Not really.. you can tell in the trailers that the kids are making their own movie throughout the movie... and you get to see the kid's movie at the end of the real movie... make sense?
Green Lantern 6/10
Spent way too much on the visuals not enough on the script. Thankfully I was given the option of seeing this in 2D, can't see how 3D could have improved the movie any. Biggest problem was casting Ryan Reynolds... IMO he didn't suit the part and there's a couple scenes when he starts to act like himself... you see it in all his movies, you'll know it when you see it.

Unfortunately, while I really enjoy Ryan Reynolds as an actor, he is not suited to be a superhero type in movies. I thought he was great in Wolverine where he played Deadpool, but in my opinion, he's more suited to comedy/drama/chick type flicks where the girls can oooo and awwwwe over his body (and yes, I'm jealous of him, lol!)

Ryan Reynolds shouldn't be a protagonist. He isn't likable and he isn't funny. He would be a great douchebag villain in a comedy.

I agree; basically, I felt like I was watching a Cloverfield rewrite w/ much younger actor/actresses. Although for me, this version was less intense by comparison, which I found disappointing. However, the acting was worth the price of admission, and despite having very little of a story behind this hyped up phenomenon -- the screenplay of having 2 films developing ("Super 8" and Super 8) simultaneously was entertaining.

i dont understand how people are comparing this movie to cloverfield?.. it had maybe 1 similarity and that was it rarely showed all the alien., i do agree that the phenomenon had a very small part.. which should've played a bigger role in the film. also the childrens super 8mm film was called "The Case".

To summarize:
Spoiler: (Highlight this box to see the hidden message.)
In similar fashion: first, all the chaos that unfolds later is preceded by a catastrophic event that creates massive gossip. Then, an unidentified creature (practically out of no where) runs rampant by destroying a city/town for all the wrong reasons just because we force it into a corner from the beginning.
Also, both movies kick off w/ little side productions as second stories using these little hand held type cameras that serve a greater purpose (presumably at least) by having captured live footage on the behalf of civilians.
In the end: the decision too evacuate along w/ the military in general both fail, and really this creature survives and basically wins in yet a still highly undefined climax of a plot, as our conclusion.
Bottom line: in essence, the premise appears very much the same. |
And, yes... The Kodak "Super 8" system is what I was referring too

really how. it was the same jokes and same exact story line as part one. I can watch the first one and from start to finish I was laughing and so was the theater. I can still watch the first one over and over and still laugh but I probably laughed 3 or 4 times in the 2nd one and I don't even think anybody laughed in the theater.
The experiment 8/10
I thought it was a great movie but felt the end was rushed a bit.
X-men first class 6/10 there were some good moments but not a movie I think I would watch again. maybe because x-men is my favorite comic book of all time I'm alot harsher on the movies. I really think they need bryan singer back directing or somebody as good as him.

Silence of the Lambs-7 kind of an awkward movie, ending is a little cheesy, but I did enjoy the slight twist

Salt - 8.9/10
It took me awhile to realize what was going on.
Spoiler: (Highlight this box to see the hidden message.)
I didn't understand it until Orlov called Salt "Comrade Chenkov". And the cliffhanger upset me. |

Green Lantern: 7/10 good effects, good acting, Ryan did a decent job I thought. I saw it for free anyway so I didn't care if it was good.

just watched this movie, I give it a 9 out of 10. The story was really good and i believe IMO that this is Jim Carrey's best movie.
The Machinist 5/10, thought it was kind of interesting but lost my attention about half way through, too slow of a movie for me.

Mr. Poppers Penguins - 8/10. I went to the movies dreading this but my little brother wanted to see it so whatever. It was actually quite charming and a very well put together movie. The commercials did it absolutely no help at all.

I hate that he got back together with his ex wife and not Pippy. She was super cute and at one point in the movie it made it seem like they were building something? |
