Post-war discussion ION 2012

Hey nation, for those of you who went to the Invasion of Normandy battle over the past weekend in Pennsylvania, I just wanted to branch out and discuss with you what you liked and didn't like. Allied, German, and French teams may discuss here!

I would also like to say thank you to all of my fellow allied soldiers who fought on the beaches and in the major battles in the woods, I would like to say THANK YOU for playing as hard as you did! With you throwing ropes of paint on the beaches and woods, you helped me BIG time! I was able to sneak off into the woods mostly alone, where I silently and patiently waited, slicing through reinforcing forces that would have assaulted you on the front lines!

For those of you wondering, I had a black e-flex mask, a white jersey that had a mushroom on it that said "1 up kids" , red Empire LTD pants, Empire Freedom Gloves, and green cleats.

My official elimination count over the course of the weekend was;
51 enemy eliminations.
I got eliminated once.
51-1

The key to my elimination count being so high, was my fellow soldiers on the front lines, holding the Germans back so I could sneak around them!

Anyways, I thought the whole game was amazing, even with the small amount of drizzling. The riddles from the French, intense battles, screaming, yelling, and running kept me constantly busy, whilst out in the field quietly waiting to spring traps on reinforcing soldiers

Also; I only went out with a hopper of paint and MAYBE a pod of paint. I came home after the event with almost 3/4 a bag of paint.

Alright Nation, post!

I think this was the best ion ever. If i could change anything i'd put the atlantic wall flags back in the woods not in the berms. historically it makes alot more sense and would make it more competitive. the allies have soo much more cover on the beach than the poor Germans stuck in the berms

I don't agree. Those flags are crazy hard to get to over that berm. I had to sneak through the German insertion just to flip them for the Allies. The point of the flags is so that each army can gain the points equally, so having them at the berm makes it fair.

I actually thought the game was a great time. Playing French is always a challenge. My only complaint was the paint quality. For every ball that broke, 10 more bounced. You could skip them off the ground at people. I don't know if it was the humidity or what, but the paint was dreadfully soft.

I kid you not, a German player put a rope on me from about 30 yards and nothing broke. And he was shooting plenty hot because I have the welts to prove it.

The German forces have far less cover than the allies do on the beach.

would the allies have won the Battle for normandy if they only took the berms on the beaches? Of course not. It was better and more realistic the way it was. the stats dont lie either the allies have taken the entire beaches more than the Germans have held them.

I would rather shoot soft paint, than brittle....NOT ONE BREAK and i was putting some serious bursts down.

Also Anyone know the status on that one kid who got hit by the CO2 tank missle? he was removed from the field by one of our tanks, so im assuming that was pretty bad

It depends on the section of the beach. The Allies seemed to have an easy time getting through on the left side, but up on the right was very difficult. This might have been due to the quality of players distributed across the beach though. Considerably more aggressive players were down on the left side.

I'm not sure there's a good answer. The Allies might be able to push into the woodsline and flip the sticks, but any German force worth its salt should be able to repel them back onto the beach and flip the sticks back. I really think the berm is the most neutral location for the slap sticks.

I couldn't agree more. I think it was a combo of bad paint and the heat/humidity that caused the bounces. I look like a cheetah with all the welts and my refusal to use bunkers all weekend didn't help matters.

Probably. With that many people around and not drinking enough water it's pretty likely.

A drank 3L a day lol.

The paint was actually thick shelled. Also about a .691 bore for me. The heat was making them squishy. I kept my paint as cool as possible and had no problems.

I never heard a peep from the Yeti, which surprised me greatly. I am worried about Ralph though. He disappeared after the reception. His injuries would have made him an easy target for the Yeti.

I thought that it was too hot this year

They need to turn the AC up

And the paint prices were RIDICULOUS.
$80 for a case is insane. Plus $84 got entry is nasty too.

Ralph got what he had coming to him. Damn bastard shot me. This is not over Dimlott.

As for the person hit by the CO2 tank, he was taken out by the Cromagnum tank. They run with us. Wally our team leader was in the tank and said the guy got very lucky as the tank just missed hitting his knee bone. When they took him off he had a huge purple lump where he got hit.
