Was just about to fall to sleep when I realized how to solve this:
http://web.trinity.edu/x8833.xml
I found it pretty easy, so I am not sure wether I should be proud of the feat or not.
Oddly enough I was in an altered state of consciousness.

****. You.
Would prefer not to spend over $25k...$20k if I can find a good deal. Used/New doesn't matter, just want a decent car.
Looking for good gas mileage.
Automatic (stfu, I'll get a bike for a manual vehicle )
Sedan/Coupe doesn't matter.
Something practical, but not a hybrid.
Most likely just using in the city/highway. No off road or anything crazy.

Toyota if you want it to last for ****ing ever...they have some models with pretty damn good gas mileage too, from what I remember, and certainly have a lot of automatic options.
Also, BA: I laughed heartily at that picture

absolutely not.
hyundai turned their **** around when they re-positioned themselves around 2008. it's a reliable, inexpensive, korean car, with the best warranty in the industry (10yrs/100k miles). parts are readily available and cheap, so if it breaks and isnt covered by warranty, you can fix it easily. great gas mileage on most models. they dont even look too bad imo. i think they're nicer, aesthetically, than toyotas and hondas.
ford has also turned around since the bankruptcies of their american-made competitiors in detroit (chrystler/gm). their cars have always (within recent memory, since the bankruptcies) been reliable. part of my pop's job is to run a garage that works on semis as well as company fleet vehicles - the majority of which are fords, utilized b/c of their relative reliability (compared to other american-made fleet vehicles) and affordability of parts. ford has always been a brand that wasnt expensive to maintain. also, since '10, i've really enjoyed the styling of their vehicles. their smaller cars - ones well within your price range - have great gas mileage.
also agree with WS on the "foreverability" of toyotas. i drive a 150k+ miles 1998 avalon. she runs absolutely fine. cant complain one bit, other than the fact it looks old.

Yeah, my 95' Accord is still running. Looks like **** and AC won't stay fixed but it runs well. But with possible unemployment coming up and the unfortunate honest fact that rolling up to a ****ty *** car with a near silver roof to a job interview really won't help my case.
I'll look into some of those cars.

As a guy who leased one this summer...this.
Great gas mileage and I'm paying $222 a month to lease it. After all the discounts and stuff the base price was down to $19500 from $22k so it wouldn't be too expensive if you want to buy it (as apposed to leasing).
