2006 OGD Information Thread

I have been asking around regarding ramping and hotel locations at the 2006 OGD. To give you some news, we will likely be holding the OGD at the Myrtle Beach, SC event in late July or early August. We'll know this for sure in about a month.

Ramping has been brought up by all teams as a point of concern. The NPPL rules we played with at the IAO do not allow ramping, but the PSP rules, used at the CFOA, do allow ramping. After talking to teams, I have decided that we will not allow ramping at the OGD in 2006. While the final rules are not out, you can count on it being disallowed.

What that means, is there are two options for hotel locations, really. On the beach, by the bars or off the beach, a couple miles from the center of activity for a little less per night. Most teams, however, have decided that since its likely to be only a 1-3 night stay, that we should make the official hotel on the beach and spend the little extra. So, we'll be picking an oceanfront hotel in Myrtle Beach to stay at. More details coming soon.

I'll try to keep everyone up to date about the event both here and at the OGD website. Thanks Everyone!

ps: Dan/other Mod, can you sticky this?

Looks fine to me...
Hopefully it won't interfere with the Michigan Monster Game. It's one of my few weekends of R&R and pulling trigger!

I dunno but maybe you ought to allow every OG to bring a 3-man Young Gun. Just an idea...

A separate 3-man young gun tourney division, but by onwer's group?

3-man Tippy young guns vs. 3-man AKA young guns vs. 3-man AIR young guns vs etc... I doubt that would be very practical though, since this is by a default a pretty expensive event. Travel expenses, hotel, and that whole parental supervision thing gets a lot more difficult at this type of event.

Something else that ocured to me on this.
Why?
I mean, over the years we've had more than our share of under 18-ers.... heck one of the guys that plays with us was just starting High school the first year, and just finished (or is finishing this year) college .

Obviously, every team will have it's own rules about it, but for me, I've never had a problem with young kids on the team.. makes it easier for us old guys to stay in the back :-P
