I can't believe there is a new GoPro out already. Seems like I just got my HERO3 Black Edition not too long ago. I guess it's been about a year, but seriously? They are pulling the Apple routine... a new release ever year.

It is. It has some relatively good upgrades though. Especially if their claims hold water. The bigger battery is the main factor in buying it for me. If it's really that much better, I'll have to upgrade.

You guys use these things at all? I hardly ever use mine for paintball, but I do with other activities. Mountain biking, rock climbing, white water rafting, flying, ect.

It just seems to get in the way when I play. I'm more focused on the camera than the game itself.

It's the same sensor. Which means not that much better.

Yeah i'm not sure what they did, but they mentioned lens adjustment. Adjusted the F stop, and clarity. They claim less distortion.

I'm mostly concerned with the battery.

i sent my gopro back. mounted it to my fire helmet, 1 house fire and it was done. my contour has been through 4 or 5 plus 2 training burns and its no worse for wear. idk what it was with the gopro not liking it though

they said one of their seals wasnt right, and that the heat may have distorted the plastic (or whatever) case it was in allowing water/steam inside to the actual camera. since the case is the actual waterproofing (and because the new kid hit US as we came out of the house) it got a wee bit water logged

well im glad i held off on getting a 3black and just got a herohd cause this 3+ seems a bit better then the 3 they say its a bit smaller also which is a good thing

i figured it wouldn't hold up. it was a hot fire though, one of those "tinderbox" houses, the other ones we've been on havent been anywhere near as hot, so my contour may have just been lucky. plus i mouted it under the brim with a cut up "black jack" flashlight mount. i dont really blame the go pro. it could have been a defect that woulda failed any other day.

this will be my next camera purchase. might sell my dad my contour and just buy the real deal

couple guys at fireschool had them. but they paid full price. the one thing that is really nice is they take really good video in low light. my contour struggles a bit even when set to low light
