"You are the Controller!" Lets talk Kinect

When I first heard about this hardware I immediately thought about the Wii. After playing it and experiencing what the Kinect for Xbox 360 is all about, I'm pretty impressed. Sony Move put some colorful balls on a controlelr and acted like they had something new but this system is remarkable. There are so many ways Microsoft could go with this product it's just something time will tell.

ill wait to buy one until they show that they can integrate it at least in some ways into more mature games. the fun game thing is great but i cant justify dropping 150 on something that all i can do with at the moment is program workout routines and raft down a river.

I want a 3rd person shooter where your body is the controller for this.
Include a full size assault rifle that you hold in front of the TV, like Time Crisis, with a trigger to shoot. You move your hand to reload the magazine like you would do shooting a gun. You could lean around corners, squat, run, etc.
**** would be dope.

Or GTA for the kinect. except you have to really go outside and steal cars. Then when the cops shop up you really have to kill them so it'll happen in the game.

It's reminding Nintendo that their implementation wasn't the problem; it was the premise of their idea. It just won't work.

Unless they can actually make it work and appeal to more people. It could be interesting. It wouldn't surprise me if the next batch of consoles attempted to limit the tradition controller.

But I also hope they don't cause sometimes I just want to sit on my ***.

The problem I have with a lot of the motion controller stuff nowadays is that it's either too physical, or not enough. There are so many things you simply cannot accurately control via the motion technology that is better left to something with actual tactile response, and the vice versa, where sometimes you want just the extra, added benefit off a motion control for the things your controller can't do.

Nobody seems to have found that perfect balance or integration of motion control into the games, without turning off one group of gamers to another. Not everyone wants to get up and jump around, and not everyone wants to be a straight bum. That happy medium just hasn't been found yet.

Eventually, a power-glove-esque peripheral will return and be the most likely successor, before full virtual-reality. It'd be the most likely thing, since the delicate dexterity of fingers and wrists can't be beat in overall control, but require a ton less energy than waving your arms around all day.

WoW Kinect.

You can act out how nerdy you feel by actually backstabbing, casting and crafting!

Having no buttons is a bigger disadvantage than an advantage to me. Sure, it's fun to flail around like a mindless piece of flesh, but it can't be used for anything more than that. When it comes to any game that holds a more serious and competitive manner, not having buttons is a huge deal.

I'm betting the Kinect fad will die out faster than the Wii fad. I see more use out of Move, but that's old tech and I don't like it either...

I wouldn't really say the Wii was a "fad."

Its still quite popular among consumers.
