fixing up a guitar i found in the trash
On my way back from World Cup last year, I stopped at a Subway in my neighborhood. My friends and I took a back road and saw a perfectly good guitar body lying in someones trash. I told the driver to stop and I snagged that ****.
I found that it was a strat bodied Cort. Electronics stripped, missing a fret, and a broken tuner.
The condition is incredible for what it was doing in the trash.
So, I finally got around to fixing it up. I took apart the body and neck, and started sanding down the body.
I was thinking about getting either some B.C. Rich humbuckers or a pair from a Les Paul. I know a guitar enthusiast in my 'hood, so I can get all the parts to fix it for under $100.
Anyway, my real question is, what color or custom paint job should I have done to it?
I already have a telecaster thats white with a black pick guard. I was thinking about going for a metal theme, since my friends and I have a faux-metal band we play when we dick around.
We were thinking a zombie theme, blood splatters, maybe a flame theme (but I feel that is over done.) I want to use a piece of metal, such as diamond plate, for a pick guard. My friend works at a car garage that his family owns, so fabrication is not a problem.
I was also thinking about reshaping the body as well.
Any input would be appreciated. Even if you say, make it in the shape of a penis (we already tried and found someone beat us to it. Check Google images....haha)

Oh yeah, I've seen that penis guitar, what's it called again? It's been all over the ultimate-guitar message board for awhile. As for the guitar you can never go wrong with black. I wouldn't overdo it with a zombie theme, blood, or flames. I think it would come off as a little corny. Do you have any pics of the guitar?

i dont have any pics of the guitar itself, but it looks just like this...well it did, only without any strings, pickups, bridge, knobs, and is missing the top fret (the one the strings line up on)
by the way, its a Cort Effector.

nut should be easy to replace, unlike a fret. just find a replacement and tap it in, although i'm ot 100% sure if you use an adhesive with it. i think yuou just use superglue, but im not sure.

The thing right between the neck and the head is the nut, the frets are only the metal "wire" things along the neck, but the nut is usually made of plastic or bone.
Use elmer's glue for putting in a new nut. In the event that it breaks you won't have to chisel out a new nut-hole, and that's always a great thing.
Hehe I said nut-hole.

I saw my guitar repair guy, he has plenty of them lying around. I don't know if I should get the BC Rich or es Paul hum buckers. What would you guys think would sound better for 'metal'?
I decided to go with a silver/gray base color for the guitar, but I want to spruce it up with a graphic as well. I am gonna out a picture of Jamie for mythbusters on the back.
haha. Any ideas for the front? I want something hardcoreish. My friend keep a offering Celtic designs, but I don't know if I approve of them.

I have decided to go for a red flannel (Lumberjack style) paintbjob with a diamond plate pick guard, Les Paul active pick-ups (since this guitar has the ability), and black knobs and tuners. I'll get pics of it saturdya if anyone is interested on my progress. I just wish I took pics before it was sanded down.

If it is an Effector that may be the reason it's in the trash if it doesn't work, it's basically a guitar with a bunch of effects like fuzz, chorus, etc built in. That's what the buttons are for. But if they don't work then you have hell to pay my friend. Either that or bypass them all and use a standard electrical wiring format.

yeah, it was missing the board for the effects. I am just gonna take out the buttons and throw some wood or bondo over it, sand it down, and pretend it never existed.
