USPL HB is going to be a webcast; not broadcasted on ESPN.

Yeah I know, but it's still going to be aired though. That's what I meant

And to OP im really excited also, im going to be saving around $2000 on air travel this year because they events are held in a western series and an eastern series. Good competition, great players, pump, 5man, and 7man. This is gonna be sick!
Escuse me if im wrong, but, what is USPLs excuse for the Bay City Open, thats going to be a Santa Clara Paintball Park, have you ever played there? I know i've played XPSLs there and that **** is not worth how much USPL is charging for HB. So because its at a paintball park are they going to lower the prices to WCPPL level? We all know the answer to that question is NO. So give me venues like HB every single tournament and then you can justify your price, but throw me at Santa Clara Paintball park in San Jose, California and tell me why I should play an entire series of USPL.

I'll be playing there too, we'll compare notes haha.. I just hope they deliver consistantly, not just a one hit wonder. HB is a great venue, but San Jose SCP park isn't, they can't give them both for the same price when they are so different from one another in quality.

The problem is not enough people love to watch it to sustain a show.

Jerry Braun's ESPN World Championships, The original USPL, UAPL, NXL
Smart Parts World Championships, NPPL... they all had nationally broadcast TV shows.

All of those shows came to an end, too. None of them were the magic bullet that made paintball "mainstream" and none of those shows drew enough viewers to draw enough advertisers to keep everything going.

Paintball on TV is nothing new, and it's never taken hold for the long-haul on national broadcast TV because there have never been enough people that cared about watching it.

I think if the industry spend money and advertise in regular television slots would help.

But who would have thought poker would be where it is. I am new to the sport but when ESPN did a broadcast it was pretty easy to watch. The broadcast was not the problem it is the work neccessary to grow it from the ground. Paintball should advertise to other places outside of places away from current ballers. They had a nice commercial showing how fun paintball is for birthday parties etc.....it was just on during a paintball show . You put that commercial during saturday morning cartoons or something like that. THe "Mom I want that" will be directed at paintball.

I Love This Game :-)

I hope USPL is around for a long time, but I wonder why HB is the only event listed in APPA under the USPL. Correct me if I am wrong, but WCPPL D3 winners got $4000 cash for 1st place and you can use what ever paint you wanted and entry was $1200. USPL D3, paid early $1850, I hear first place pays out $4250, and the paint is SOOOOOOOO expensive. Eveyone knows what we paid for paint at the WCPPL event. Oh yeah, there were only 9 teams registered in D3 and it still paid out $4000. Do the math. Its not that difficult. And another point, D4 (rookies) series champs in the WCPPL get 7 Luxes. WCPPL FTW. USPL needs to step up and make it a bit more cost friendly to the teams. I dont know how many players have played the layout, but expect to shoot a lot of paint.
amen to that! i played in wcppl and i went to go watch uspl
and the reffing dont compare

so far right now uspl better step up

the reason why the Uspl is more expensive is because of the location.

Period.

Good info guys! Well I'm glad everything turned out the way it did. Everyone seems to have liked the event. I personally did not get a chance to watch the live feed I was looking at pictures and such and I feel as though I missed out on much. I hope that the future events will be just as good if not better!

The USPL doesn't even have midwest event. Before we worry about paintball getting mainstream we should come up with a format that everyone wants to play in all areas of the US... or 7 man guys could just play xball and problem solved

if you want the sport to grow bring your friends out to the field thats the best we can do for now

... come on.

Poker became popular because of the hole-cam (they figured out how to film it) and the rise of internet gambling (rise in participation).

You pay more money to go to a USPL because the competition is better. Who cares where you play for the most part? I never really liked playing in the parking lots of stadiums and would have much prefered many paintball parks. It keeps the money in the sport and helps grow it.

Paintball will become mainstream when participation rises and someone figures out how to make it TV friendly. Every time paintball has been on TV it has sucked and anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves. The money and interest that paintball generates always boils down to the number of walk ons at local fields.

Paintball will most likely not be too "mainstream" for a long time. If any paintball league garnered even 20% of the audience that something like the NHL gets within the next 20 years I'd be pleasantly surprised.

I agree. Alot of my friends that used to play have quit... I think it's because they lose interest. I don't hear people talking about paintball like they used to... That is what sucks. I'm not sure where it is really heading but I hope it's heading to a good place!

Yeah still, they are recognizing the attention the sport is getting through a forum and advertising on it. How does that not help paintball. Small things make a big difference in the long run.

Something we can do is click on the links to the advertisements.
