i actually have SIGNIFICANTLY more luck pinning around here for trout than i do on the fly. holes are pretty deep and the fish like to stay close to the bottom so once you have the rig set up correctly drifting an offering right through the hole kills it. i do need to get my fly gear back for some of the shallower parts of the river i like to site fish, though.

i was getting screwed yesterday mainly because there were so many bluegill and crappie murdering my offering as soon as it hit the water i never had a chance with trout.

yea ive had success with flies no doubt but ever since i started pinning it almost feels unfair. the big problem is it is kind of a pin in the *** when there are a lot of people on the water since you do kind of hog whatever area you are in

got 1 trout last night drifting spawn sacks and randomly got 2 white bass on sacks. there were quite a few people pinning the damn so drifts got sort of congested and i called it an early night.

in other news i still suck dick at casting a centerpin rod

So, finally got out last Thursday and did some fishing! Caught a bunch of fish but most were around a pound or so. I did take some pictures of the better fish we caught, one of them is probably the biggest spotted bass I have ever caught.

Finally hit river. Started fall stocking today. Fished from 345-500 and...no trout. 3 rock bass, 1 sunny and 1 perch and missed a decent smallmouth Wtf perch? NJ as far as I know doesn't stock perch. I think a guy down river is stocking them privately. He also stocks trout, and small mouth.

It's just a 15 ft aluminum monark boat that belonged to my grandfather. We had always planned to get a bigger, faster boat when I got older to fish out of but his declining health made that impossible unfortunately. But since I won't be in school for too much longer and ill have a real job ill be able to afford my own.

Good luck to you, Chris. All those fish had been feeding pretty heavy by the looks of it so I'm sure you'll get into some good fish.

Between work/wife/kid I rarely get time to fish. The past few days when I've actually had time, I've been miserably sick.

fml? Yea...fml. Oh well. The water here is finally starting to cool down, the high temps killed fishing this summer. Now that it's cooling down, doormat flounder are showing up inshore, and the trout are starting to run. Should be good eats

flounder have been popping up around my area as well. though i won't worry about them until they are in larger numbers as fall/winter rolls through.

FINALLY got out to target some snook. i'll use one fillet to make the usual breaded fingers and hot sauce, and probably use the other half on the grill.

5 reds 3 trout and a bass today. Caught a big freshwater cat that my friend didn't want to keep but decided to keep 2 big hardheads...
I ended up moving right before the tide started moving and where we were people were killing the reds, still happy that i have a good dinner ready.

Boat ran good thank god, I had water in all three carbs from the last time I went.

Nice, they're a blast to catch. Making some tacos for lunch with the ones I caught yesterday.

I ended up frying the bass up with panko. First time eating bass, it was very good.
