MVP Lube

Hello all,

I recently bought a used MVP. Once it arrived aired it up to make sure it worked and then I tore it down and scrubbed it clean.

I lubed it up with my planet eclipse grease and now it leaks terribly down the barrel.

My question is what kind of lube do you all use on your MVP. I'm thinking that perhaps the planet eclipse stuff isn't quite thick enough to seal properly but I wanted to see what everyone else was using.

Thanks for you help.

Bob Longs require you to use Dow 55 on all guns. the only place you shouldnt use it is on the bolt itself. you need oil for that.

I used dow 33 on every part of my MVP and never had an issue with the 20 or so case i put through it.

take it back apart and check your orings. esp the little guy between the body and frame

with no disrespect i completely disagree. please read the manual. you need to use dow55. bob long guns rely on the swelling properties of dow 55 to make a seal

Well, I relubed it with Dow 33 and it was still leaking.

Finally noticed the little oring for the gas passage-way from the frame into the body was missing. Replaced it with a new one and works like a champ.

Still wondering if the Planet Eclipse lube would work...

watch those o-rings and return springs, they like to walk away. use dow 55, as recommended for bob's guns. there is not a manual available for the MVP yet.

from the Victory manual (page 3) on BLAST's website.
"> Improper lubrication. The only authorized grease for maintaining a Bob Long marker is Molykote® 55 made by the Dow Corning Corporation (Dow 55). Authorized oil is limited to Tri-flow® or any other synthetic oil made specifically for maintaining a paintball marker."

ya all these guys are right i own a crap ton of bob long guns including 2 mvps only use dow 55 on the o rings besides the one's on the bolt tip. the dow 55 is necessary because it swells the orings only sue dow 55 lube for bob long guns.

You can disagree all you want, BUT, There is no manual for the MVP, unless one has come out recently. And like i said, my gun worked perfectly for this whole entire season, which included Winning PSP MAO. So it is NOT absolute. yes you SHOULD use dow 55, but you can use dow33 if thats all you have.

But it looks like the OP fixed the problem with MY original suggestion(missing the small oring)

EDIT: Also the MVP will run on any tank output. I ran HP all year. but on occasion i shout a LP tank and even an SLP tank and never noticed a performance difference

I use Tri-Flow on the ball bearings, DOW33 on all o-rings and a thin coat of Eclipse oil on bolt and pump-return guides

You realize MVP stands for Marq Victory Pump right? I believe there is a manual on bob site that goes under the name of marq victory. so yes there is a manual for it. oh and btw Bob recommends LP because of the seals of the air passages. the lower the pressure that runs through them the less of a chance of failure. keep running HP though your gun and you will eventually find what i am say is true. i know you will still probably try to say that the MVP and Vic arent the same but they are. call Blast and ask them what they say about all of this.

here is the manual for all the Gen 2 Marqs including the MVP: http://manuals.boblongdirect.com/Gen...ual%20v2.0.pdf

Can you indicate on what page of that manual it states that it is for the MVP, or has anything to do with the gun?

Marq Victory pump is almost the same thing as the Marq Victory. the only difference is the lack of electronics and it being converted to a pump. the bolt system is almost the same. the internal passage ways have the same sensitive seals as the Marqs and G6R which both need a LP tank and dow55. what more do i need to say to prove my point?

do you even own a MVP?????? Its NOT a victory engine. YES, it is reccomended that you use dow 55 as thats what BL reccomends for all of his guns. but dow33(eclipse grease is about the same) worked fine for me for a season along with my Hp(650psi).

Some people would argue that those differences would counterindicate your claim. If a guy wanted to be right in this situation, seems like he would ask the manufacturer or at least someone with real experience with the gun, neither of which you have even claimed to be.

Trigger, why are you so aggressive dude?

I've used plain ol' Molykote Dow 33 and it has worked fine. I am going to get a hold of Ryan for some 55 though.

Bob Long doesn't even have a manual out right now.

The MVP does have sort of a similar engine to the Marq lines, BUT it is different.

Also, this video is Bob talking about the Victory SC engine. Watch at 1:45 in the video and listen to what he has to say about grease.

I agree with Castro wholeheartedly, but many players like bmx, therockofsweden, and myself haven't had issues with a grease other than 55.

Read this
http://www.dowcorning.com/content/pu...it/80-3256.pdf

Dow55
Primary Use – Dynamic lubrication between rubber and metal parts, especially in pneumatic systems.
Limitations – Not recommended for lubricating silicone rubber O-rings and seals; test before using on plastics; may attack polycarbonate and other plastics; not designed for lubricating bearings.

Dow33
Primary Use – Lubricant for lightly loaded ball bearings; instrument lubricant; can be used on metal, plastic and rubber parts; especially useful on equipment that must operate over a wide temperature range.
Limitations – Not recommended for metal-to-metal sliding applications (can be used on metal-to-metal rolling applications).

Because Dow33 is safer for some plastic and some rubber parts, I would stick with Dow33. Very few parts on a paintball gun are metal on metal sliding action. Most are o-ring to metal sliding. If you do have metal on metal sliding action you should probably use triflow on those parts

so it wasn't a lube issue, that oring can be very pesky. I wish they'd ship a bunch with the gun.

I bought one of the first ones so I didn't get ANY o-rings. Luckily the ones I had from g6r/victory worked for it
