Having owned both guns....i would still go with the Etek3....the gun is going to be more on par with newer guns...so if you decided to trade or sell it you will be in better shape....the gun is a bit lighter and egos tend shoot fast bps wise....not to sure why but for some reason i always see people with egos being checked for bounce and things...hope that helps

etek 3. reliability, ease of maintenance, less maintenance, more efficient.

The reflex will probably have a smoother shot.

if your going to ask this question in an etek fourm your going to get the answer that the etek is better and vice versa in the rail fourm. trying using the vs. thread located here. https://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=1915004 ... now its still an etek fourm however you get opionions from both ends through this.

I have owned both a new DP FX and a New Etek 3.. I got the FX early this summer. supper light really nice looking, chopped paint a lot. I worked on it for about 2 months a lot. Never got it to shoot good all day long. When i got tired of it I got the etek 3 AM. It is just a tad heavier, and might not be a nice looking, but it makes up with the fact it works ever time you take it to the field. You will not play good if you are worried your marker will not shoot right, or fail you. The FX has an OLED board the etek does not. But I have not seen a need to up grade the etek to get one. I love my etek. the FX was sold and I lost 100$ on it. The etek is waiting for the snow to melt so I can play some more. If you get a Etek hold them both, AM and LT if you can not tell a differance get the Etek LT and save some money, then if you want latter you can get an APE board and you will Have a sweet marker, that works when needed.

I don't play paintball all the time, perhaps a few times a year, but looking to get my own marker since going to the field and playing with the crap they give you to use.

I'm looking really to not spend more than 300$, and a used Etek2 and new PMR2011 seem to both be about that.

I'm just curious about a used gun versus a new one. And for an occasional player which would be better in peoples opinions.

I've watched youtube videos of people shooting them, it looks like the PMR shoots alot more accurate than the Eteks. I don't really care about how many bps they shoot, just want something accurate. And everyone always shoots so dang fast in the youtube videos and the Eteks look to just spray all over, but i'm wondering if it's just because they are shooting so fast.

Any help with decision making would be great.

A marker being accurate has more to do with the paint they are shooting. Good paint accurate, bad paint not accurate. A lot of the youtube videos you see are people useing really old paint. I keep old paint around to work on markers at my house... and use new when i go play.. I do not know any thing about the PMR, I think the etek is a fine marker. Best thing to do would be go to the field and try to hold and shoot both markers. If you are not going to play a lot. I would not spend a lot of money. The Etek might hold up better setting and not getting used a lot.. Is the PMR a spool valve? If so it might stick if it sets for long times between uses..

Ul frame is the one real advantage imo
ul barrel is better then eteks but with leftover money get a SLY kit
spool valve meaning smoother shooting then etek

with the money left from not getting dm6 you can get new barrel/kit bolt trigger frame rammer and make it better then a dm

ETEK vs. DM6

DM6:

-More upgrades available for dm6.
-Stock trigger is AMAZING just needs to be tuned *IMO*
-UL Is extremely Light and comfortable
-Stock board isn't really up to par with competing 06 markers.
-Dye UL Barrel *stock barrel* is great very nice.
-Hyper 2 regulator is very DURABLE
-In fact ASA,Feed neck, and overall gun is VERY durable.
-NO KICK *when tuned properly...*
-Orange bolt makes it one of the most air efficient guns I've ever used.
-25bps capable out of the box. as in if the board/hopper will do it the bolt system stock does it
-Stock eyes and detents are extremely effective.
-Color coded modes for stock board.
-No clamping feed neck - Means spend 30$ cause if you play a lot clamping feed neck is a must!

ETEK:

-Thinner
-Taller
-No so many upgrades out there.
-Barrel shoots well
-Regulator is efficient.
-Clamping feed neck
-Small amount of kick in comparison However i am new to teching Eteks. sooo. lol
-EASY EASY EASY access bolt / breech
-Very fast and accurate overall Especially for its price range.
-Out of the Box tournament worthy marker.
-Star frame is rare and exspensive...
-Colors that I have seen are pretty limited.


Overall I would much rather shoot the Dm6 but only after a few ups and some tuning.

Etek is out of the box clean and effective along with the dm6 but with a few extra bills the dm6 shows its price-tag off REALLY WELL

Just my 2 cents.

I got an Etek 3 AM this summer, I love the Etek 3AM. I think You will love the Etek LT also... If i had it to do over i would got the LT to save money.

Yes, depending on what you like to call "worth the money". I own two mid end speed markers. Invert mini and ETEK 3 lt.

To start off, the ETEK is light and feels very simliar to the ego 9's I know a buddy of mine who owns a small pb shop and he sells older egos... so yeah. But anyway, its worth what you pay for.

Now if you're a upgradeaholoic like myself the you'll think about these upgrades.

ETEK 2 feather light trigger switch, (works like a charm)

Virture ETEK 2/3 board.

Violent ball baring trig. (work well with the lightened switch.)

Besides that you dont really need anything else. the barrel shots smoothly out of the box. But there is some kick.
