Is that yours, or are you just posting them? lol

I seriously considered getting one, but I'd be afraid I would either get sick of it or move somewhere I couldn't take it, and once they are bonded to you, you can't leave the poor things.

Not a sugar glider, but I used to have a Southern Pygmy Flying Squirrel years ago. His name was Houdini because the first night we had him home he somehow got out of his cage, squeezed under my door, ran down the hallway, squeezed under my brother's bedroom door, and jumped up on my brother and scared the **** out of him.

Not sure if I have any pics of him but this is what they look like (for size reference they are about the size of a golf ball when they curl up)

They are mine It's a big commitment that's for sure, but once you get the hang of their routine it's not too much work.

yep, and yep.

As far as the barking and talking, put them in another room on the other side of the house. It's really rare it wakes me up (4 times in the past 5 years or so)

Pee/poo is easy to deal with, wake them up and let them go before you take them out of the cage. If they are just sleeping in your pocket they don't go. If you have them out a long time, be ready to pick up some presents.

The other thing is they are messy! They throw around food like a bunch of monkeys - hah!

I still love looking at the pictures of your gliders. And I still want one soooo bad. But there is no place in my house to put the cage at and I'm still very nervous or w/e about what to feed it. So for now, I'll just keep looking at pictures of yours till I can hopefully get one in the future when I have space to put it and enough knowledge to know how to safely own one (feeding it and all that like I said before).

Hey NYP, Picking up a pair of females this week. Any insider tips? Ive already been over to GliderCentral.

Im still a bit confused if you can or can not let them out in public or in my house, do they have to be in the pouch in both instances?

Thanks!

Al

Also meant to add.. do I have to buy two? Ive heard if not it pairs they can be very sad.

No real tips - take it slow, and let the bonding happen at their speed. Feel free to ask me any particulars

The only one I let out in my backyard was Cleo - the mother of all the babies. She and I were the most bonded and she would always come back to me. The other ones I wouldn't trust outside. The twins would be OK sleeping in a sweatshirt, but once they heard a bag crinkle they would be out looking to mooch off whatever you had bought to eat. In your house is fine, as long as the toliet is shut, any real open drains are covered, you're going to keep an eye on them (Mia's favorite thing is playing couch tag). I would just let them out in one room and block off the others. It makes cleaning up their messes a lot easier and to keep an eye on both of them.

Cleo used to be an escape artist, jump up the stairs, and come visit me in my bedroom. It was quite frightening to get woken up by a little fur body jumping on your chest. So be sure your cage is good and wired.

I wouldn't get less than two. When there was five, they were a lot more active. Someday, I'd love to get more again.
