Back to the cutting weight topic, I too am going to be dropping weight all summer hopefully...Started around 340lbs November 09...currently at 280..wanting to finish up by September at about 230-240...Yes I know that is still not tiny or skinny by any means but I'm just a big guy to begin with..6'4" big frame...

it gonna take a lifestyle change to keep the weight off for good this time. you gotta change how you view food, exercise, and ur overall laziness.
I am looking to lose about 10 lbs (to 160) before summer to facilitate in my road cycling and running (for some reason the military wants me to be good at running). then hopefully carefully try to add strength.
And then once im done with basic training in the fall, looking to get to 175

www.myfooddiary.com is a great way to keep a diet, it's $10 a month but I know it was worth it for me when I lost the first 1 lbs in 3 weeks.

Or you could just go here and do the same thing for free.

Except this way, I can just plug any food in or choose it from a list of over 60,000 and take under 2 minutes to get all the info I need.

I've been cutting for the past few weeks. Down about 10 lbs but most of its probably water weight.

If your looking to seriously cut a serious amount of weight like that focus on your diet a lot more than lifting/cardio....

I graduated high school in 2008 at 260lbs and I'm down to 187lbs now. I worked out a lot and dropped weight pretty quickly but once I got my diet down it made it so much easier to lose the weight.

what diet did you do? I'm trying to lower my sugar intake and totally cut out my saturated/trans fat intake, also lower my carbs to about 25-30% and limit myself to 1500-2000 calories per day.

to be honest i pissed around with it so much. One day would be healthy the next I'd be at McDonalds. But now I eat around 1800 calories a day and have been pretty consistent. I eat a ton of chicken breast, protein shakes, cod, canned tuna fish and whole grain brown rice.

I've also tried my own version of the velocity diet(if you havent heard its pretty much a liquid protein shake diet). That helped me drop a lot of weigh quick but its hard and not the healthiest form to do.

I would just recommend getting no more than 2000 calories from the foods I listed above. That seems to work pretty well for me. I also have a cheat meal once a week so I can stay focused. It makes it a lot easier to eat healthy when I know I can have that cheat meal at the end of the week. And without taking in that many carbs, I've also found that caffeine is my new best friend.

And also don't think of it as a diet but more as a lifestyle change. If you lose the weight and then stop dieting you're just going to end up right back where you started

I love all those foods, never really tried a protein shake, are there any decent tasting ones?

I just use Optimum Nutrition brand for both Whey and Casein. I personally don't like the taste of any shakes I've tried but they are definitely drinkable without a problem. I prefer Extreme Milk chocolate or Tropical Punch(best imo)

Thanks, I'll make a stop at the store tomorrow and get some fish (salmon?), canned tuna, protein shakes, and chicken.

Broke into the 170s today.

The allergies/sinus infection might have something to do with that though. lawl

I need to drop about 15lbs for basketball. I need to stop being a lazy mother****er and start an actual diet. I already exercise a bit.
