I wish I had money as I would love to get my hands on some stock. Only an idiot would actually think they wouldn't pop right back up.

Jobs is still with the company and even if he wasn't he wasn't doing tasks one at a time. You can best believe Apple has at least a 5 year plan that they will not deviate from. After that time period, anything can happen but up until then, I don't see them changing too much.

As to Jobs himself. I personally hate Apple products as well as him as a person for touting them off as if they were something that god created himself but I have to respect the man for what he has brought to the field. His decisions have completely directed how the business works. Even if you don't think Apple products are the best around, you must be blind if you can't look around and see that the consumer electronics aren't has been shaped by them. Whether it be the Apple products directly or the goods that were produced to compete against them, the market has been dictated in a large way by the decisions that Jobs made in the fields of : Mobile, Tablet, PCs, and Music.

To that, I give him my respect and I hope that if he is ill, that he can overcome this. I would never wish pancreatic cancer (or any cancer) on anyone and my regards go out to him and his family.

pretty much sums it up. i gotta say apple makes a great product, lame software and even lamer pricing/marketing stategies aside. well see how much changes without jobs. it will be hard finding an entrepreneur as innovative as him to lead the company, thats for sure...

Pancreatic is one of the worst cancers you can get. Its the center of everything from insulin to digestive enzyme secretion. With a lot of money though, your chances of survival from anything greatly increase. Still I hope him the best.

Probably the same direction. Cook has been running the company for a while now, and anytime Steve was on medical leave. Not to mention he's still a large shareholder, the face of Apple no matter what, Chairman, an employee, etc.

He's going to still be instrumental on where Apple goes. He'll still give them ideas, and guidance. He just won't be the guy who gets the final say. That's going to be Cook.

Apple will be going in the same direction. I'm sure they have a whole succession plan that's been approved by Steve and the board that details all of this for the foreseeable future.

People don't seem to understand that jobs has not been running that company how people think he has..Most people imagine him running down the halls with ****ing whips and a master plan. The man has been ill since 07,his coo Tim,is the next face of Apple. After all he WAS THE man running the show when the first iPhone came out. Steve is more of the dad. They do what he says, and now that he is not "there" they will still do what he has taught them. I will promise you the new ceo can say,I want the next iMac to have blue-ray and Steve will still have the final word because in the end,he's the dad..And if he does pass away, they still have the fundamental pillars that steve built the company with. Remember people, his top chief's were pretty much chosen by Steve, for Steve. They are all his clones..Only people who I say starting ****,are the investors and people who sit on the board. Because most of the time, they are the most out of date ****ers on earth who just look at numbers and not whats going on. Hence why he got fired from his own company before.

I doubt cook will ever say "Sorry steve im CEO now, what I say goes"..Its not like Steve left because he was forced. He pretty much handed this to Cook because, imo,Steve knows he has to start polishing the rough edges before he truly does die. Cook doesn't seem like the guy to turn and say,no I want it like this, sorry old guy.

Now,if cook's opinion is to give us ****ing more bang for our buck then ****,go on and shove it up the old man's *** lol..I would love to see more, beefier pro's and air's for the same price.

He's still Chairman, and he's still going to be doing the things he has done. He just won't be the official CEO, but the company is still going to go the way he has wanted. Jobs has given them a pretty solid path, and they're going to continue to follow it until it doesn't work anymore.
Steve is intelligent man i respect his choice to stepdown from CEO
I'm pretty sure they're sales will keep increasing. With bringing the ipad to the market the itouch and the macbook. Most likely will continue to be around for the next 5 or 6 years. Not to mention they have around-the-clock staff to support ideas on upcoming product.
Very popular items! More much to come i expect.

He's finally giving someone that deserves the position as chance to stepup.

He should get an Apple trophy - ceo of the year! lol

They have the second most liquid capitol... That does not correlate to the most valuable company in the world. Further more they compete in several of the most cut throat and volatile markets that exist.

5 years from now they won't be what they are today.

Yeah, five years from now is a lot different than a year as many others are projecting. In five years no one will be were they are today. If steve jobs stayed with them for the next five years, would they still be in the same place? I'm guessing not.

Yeah, but they are still around, everyone is talking like Apple will suddenly die in one year and be nonexistent.

Okay I will clarify. In five years they will have declined. If Jobs dies they will become a shadow within 2-3 product releases.

i honestly feel like apples clear failure to implement certain features is part of jobs plan to keep the company going as long as possible without innovation. "iphone 6, now with flash"...
