nexus is just the terms for the pure google devices. they are usually flagship and will get new OS updates first. rooting will allow you to custom install different OS versions that might not regularly be available for the device, along with allowing more customization

your second question you are completely correct. it is all preference. some people will hate samsung's touchwiz that they put on the phones, some will loves it. some will love the plain no bloat of to UI that is available by getting rid of touchwiz/etc

your third question, i would say galaxy nexus or the nexus 4 if you want plain android. but if you are going to root you should be able to take off all the bloat stuff from a non nexus phone and get it to the plain jane google experience

Depends if you know what your doing lol. If you have ADB or kies or whatever you need installed then ten minutes is about what it takes me for a nexus phone / tablet. I have also struggled with my INC2 for the better part of an hour so skill depending ten minutes.

wouldn't have a huge amount of knowledge in doing it. i have kies and a skyrocket. but i am assuming i will probably need more time than most doing it from a mac computer and my only experience with phone stuff has been jailbreaking iphones which is a plug and go pretty much lol

any of you guys have a nice bluetooth speaker system/dock that you recommend? i have a JBL onbeat air right now, but it only does airplay/aux/plug in via 30 pin and i was thinking of getting something else at a reasonable price that would sound similar and use bluetooth

I don't know what I want for Christmas, so I might just buy myself a new phone since my contract has been up for a couple months. Not to mention I'm still using a DX that's been beat to **** and I'm surprised still works.

I've had my heart set on the Nexus Prime for a while, but I was doing some browsing and came across the HTC Droid DNA. I watched a couple videos and did a comparison between the DNA, Prime, and iPhone 5 (even though I don't buy Apple products), and the DNA pretty much won in all categories.

One thing I didn't like was the non-removable battery. I've always had a phone I can just pull the battery if anything goes wrong, I'm curious if I should be avoid a phone with one.

Also, any other phone suggestions as I'm doing some browsing?

EDIT: Verizon
