I had some gift certificates to amazon.com so I bought a Virtue SLG board today. It ships from AV so it should be here by the end of the week (I hope so im moving).

When I get it ill be sure to write a full review with test data etc.

What are some common problems you run into with an SLG?

I know about weak detents, rollback, but what else? Also, I don't know about this, but besides a good paint to barrel match, is there a "best" way to tune for efficiency?

Thanks.

They include spring detents / fixed bolts with every new model. The one I have was a new updated model, shoots great. How do you plan to tune efficiency, there is only a hpr lol.

I'm used to standard sear tripped blowbacks, so bear with me. I tuned for efficiency with those by increasing air flow, using different springs (yes I know you can't do that), and polishing parts for less weight and higher air flow.

Is there any way to tune the gun?

The stock board caps at 30 if im correct. The frame is not like a UL, its a uniform width similar to a timmy. There is a rumor about a UL frame sometime soon, so keep an eye out for that. The SLG is a great marker, toss a few upgrades and you have an efficient little machine gun.

thanks for the info...
I like the price on it, and the shop i go to is becoming an authorized dye dealer next month, and the slg is one of the markers they are going to carry, and I plan on getting the slg almost for sure...
30bps is plenty, i was thinking that maybe they went with somthing like sp did with the vibe at 13bps, besides 14 is most tournements/ cap at my field on speed ball, rec course is anything except velocity change

Paintballs are not anywhere near uniform, they vary in size, shape, shell thickness etc. They are made from soft products that are sensitive to heat and moisture so trying to bore size paintballs is a novel idea but a good idea is where it stops. People take 1, 2 , 6, hell maybe even 20 paintballs out of a box of 2000 to test for bore size. This is after they have sat indoor at constant temperature and moisture. You then take them out, expose them to air and the environment. So assuming your sample is a accurate representation is foolish and by the standards of my profession wrong.

So whats all that mean?
You should overbore, making sure that all your paintballs (small and large) will be able to travel through your barrel with ease. If you try to match you will get low and high shots and have trouble at the chrono and possibly the field.

Proof?
Look at what the pros use, end topic.

How big should I go
The more heat and humidity in your area, the bigger over .690. Trial and error.

If you think im wrong, please post but post thoughtful and detailed responses. If not...be prepaired!

J
agreed, the bore-matching hype gets out of control sometimes. I get better consistancy and just as good as accuracy w/my .03 or more overbore. The velocity consistancy of a slight overbore is hands down the thing that helps me the most.

You should still see advantages with a aftermarket board in semi only. I plan to use the two profiles on my virtue for 1 - semi uncapped, 2 - psp 13.

Ill post up a full review next week.

Its rated for 1500 shots from a 68/45, so just a little less etc. Although I haven't had a chance to watch mine to closely.

Well I am assuming you put both screws in so its seated properly. As long as the buttons are in there right place then its your battery.

Are you using rechargeable? Not all batteries are the same size, some are actually a little bigger etc, what brand are you using?

yea like the stock battery that came with mine was too thick, and made my grips buldge. So I put in an energizer and guess what no more buldge. So I say try another battery.

I know some people have installed magnet trigger kits in their slg's. I think it was a timmy kit if I remember correctly.

Could someone point me in the right direction?

Rendition paintball made the ones for the timmy back in the day, others may have too but I had these guys. They make some for a dm7/dm8 so I would email him or just give them a try.

http://www.***********************/

I would try but I like my 80g / UL / M8 spring set up to much.

Goodluck, hope this helps.
