I saw a player blatantly wipe a hit on field 2 along with multiple other spectators in a Division 4 match on the dorito side, I will not name the team to save them the embarrassment. Like mentioned above this had nothing to do with the Refs on that field, strictly the player.
Also I do know they got things started a little late, but when games are delayed because a team is playing in 2 divisions and the ready team sits on the field for 5 + minutes to wait, of course things will get behind schedule.
Most of the negatives I have seen mentioned had little to nothing to do with the staff.
As far as constructive criticism for the refs:
I feel like sometimes things got hectic and one ref would make a call then another would either change the call or run across the field to make sure the call was right. It just seemed communication was somewhat lacking, which during a Speedball game is completely understandable..... my .5 is maybe have ear piece walkie talkies?! Something like that might make calls a little easier to relay.

To those players who wiped hits or got rid of them, you are the exact reason why refs have to work so hard to make an event go well. You're not only cheating the other team, but you are also cheating yourself and the referees that take hits all day long to make sure that you have a good tournament. A tournament going well starts with the players. The integrity of the sport is characterized by the integrity its players.
I hope everyone had as good a time as we did. Yes, it was hard work but it is always good to see all of our friends. Thanks for the opportunity. Hope to see a lot of you in Nashville. Take care.

seps are always fun and i thought it was a great event overall, field 2 was pretty cool since they threw in the snake that was actually a snake, havent seen that since 2004. Thought the reffing was perfectly fine, dan is the man and i saw him numerous times throw his body on somebody to cover them up while trying to escort them off while he got blasted by people feeling the need to over shoot. Ya sure field 2 had a few refs that werent up to par but seps is meant to be a fun, affordable and chill environment for teams to come together and battle it out. Honestly we made the mistake of trying to play 2 divisions, it was rough and we straight up sucked in d4 but thats what mistakes are for, a learning experience.
Overall seps are always great and i just like to have fun while playing at them, you win some and you lose some, schedules may be off but you get that at every event unless its a psp, reffing may not be on par but if you complain then why don't you put on the ref shirt and go out their and do it sacrificing your body.

I got a question for the Reffing/Management crew, Is it against the rules for people registered as staff to play points?

On that one I am honestly uncertain. When it comes to the APPA issues I am slightly clueless and know only the basics. I know at the BG SEPS there was an issue with a player/players playing on teams and only on staff but not on the actual roster. It appears their may be a "loop hole" in the rules on it. I don't have a copy of the actual rulebook on hand. Brent Sanford or Sherman(because he knows the rules well) would be the one to ask on that. Brent pops in on the thread from time to time and I'm sure once he sees the question he will clear it up. I normally play these events.. I just happened to be reffing this one. Management would be the ones to ask for that one.

Thanks anyway, I just realized the team we played with the wrong roster on field 1 also had unauthorized players on the field for the game in question.
I'm not trying to say that it wasn't our fault, just that ours was an honest mistake, I will swear up and down that I heard our d4 team called, if the head ref says he called the right team then who am I to say otherwise.
Everything else at the event was awesome, the reffing on Both fields was unbiased and that's really all I care about when it comes to reffing.
Great turf, great layouts, great air fills, I did notice in one on ones, that the refs would prairie dog the last player, I would suggest getting away form that habit. In xball it doesn't matter, but in seps a lot of the sneakiness goes out the window when you have refs blowing it for you.
Anyways, it sucks that d5 turned out that way, but i'm pretty much over it.

When a player is playing two divisions the only way to get him on the roster is to put him as staff and then mention it to Roy when you sign in. The team you guys played in the finals only had one d4 player on the roster so it was still legal.

I know there were a few times that event I was last alive and Dan & the rest of the ref crew would take shots do that I wouldnt take those extra paintballs sent my way. Dan's crew always does an amazing job reffing and is very apprieciated through out our paintball community. again Thanks!

Always have fun at Asylum always have fun at SEPS. All refs were doing a great job air was great paint was great competition was amazing which i'm so happy for. I feel like my little baby maybe growing up a little and am glad to be welcoming alot of new faces to the SEPS each tournament. Only thing I wish is I could win the lottery and build a venue that has the quality of Asylum here in TN. As always see everyone next month

All I know is that I sure as hell would not want to earn points or a trophy because a team was dq'ed. Asylum should of received 1st place regardless what happened in D5. We offered to play the point over being that it was a honest mistake and also offered to pay for the teams paint to have a redo. They passed on that. Our D5 team was called to a D4 match immediately following the match in question. Somewhere along the line there was confusion but not on our part. The difference between our d5 and d4 squad is only one d4 player. I appreciate everything that Brent and Roy do for our sport and praise the people who spent their time reffing for us. Asylum is a awesome place to play and always have great air fills. Ps Our D5 team won that D4 match. Cheaters? NO Cheated? MAYBE

Good
Fields were nice, Field 2 was interesting, the turf was nice, refs on atleast field 1 were great (didn't really notice refs on field 2), fills were consistent, paint shot great, and the mist shower was AWESOME.
Bad
Field 2 refs didn't seem up to par with field 1, a field 1 ref pulled some questionable penalties. There was a player towards the end of the day (maybe finals, don't know which Div) who got shot in the tank when he was snap shooting. Me and a few others saw the hit and it was dripping, then a ref came over about 30 seconds afterwards, checked it, and wiped it off. I'm sure he thought it was a slide-bust, but it's paintball. The same player got a big bright hit on the top of the hopper, looked at it, and sat there for a little bit like he was confused, then the ref called him out. Normally this would be a minor (if I'm correct).
To the ref on field 1 that was wearing the i4's with a mirror lens, thanks for clearifying a hit that I questioned after the game professionally, ie without an attitude. Showed the quality you were giving to the tournament.
Overall it was a great event and I appreciate the ref's work.

Rise and Evolve both had a lot of fun and had good competition. This was a last minute throw-together thing, at least for Evolve, but it was totally worth the trip.

It was a great event, as most Asylum events are.
The refs did great all day, staying consistent and fair.
The one thing I would have changed would be consistency from refs from field 1 to field 2. For example, Field 1 was starting on 3-2-1 10 seconds, while Field 2 was starting on 3-2-1 5 seconds. Our team started late on a break out trying to remember if this field was 5 or 10 seconds...

i usually start when they yell go or the horn or buzzer goes off.
On a serious note i do have one issue we could look into. Chronoing every player, i know its not required but when u get bruises like i got it makes wonder if taking the extra 20 seconds is a bad idea. im in no way complaining about the refs for not checking every one, nor am complaining about getting shot multiple times. these pics do not do justice to how swollen the ares are, also they do not show the blisters that they caused.
imes.

THAT is ridiculous. I know chrono'ing 1 player gives a person a 1/5 chance to be caught and that discourages them, but I agree with you. I didn't notice anyone shooting hot and definitely didn't feel it, though I only got shot on my body once and it was a graze.
