before last year, red sox fans constantly flamed yankee fans for always looking to the past. but now all you do is look to the past year and think that you can hold that against our history.

The Yankees (and their fans) represent all that is wrong with baseball.
The MFY always overpay for free agents, chasing the high dollar 'superstar' at the expense of team building. Their farm system is barren, all their prospects have been traded away for more overpriced 'superstars.' And to all the impending comments about the Sox payroll....
1.) There is an $84 million difference in the two teams' payrolls. $84 million would cover the salaries for 20 of the Major League's franchises.
2.) The Sox sign players that fit their needs (for the most part), not like the ego stroking signings that happen in the Bronx.
And for whoever wants to talk about living in the past...you jackasses can't have it both ways. Either accept the fact that you haven't gotten the job done since 2000 and that you were on the losing end of the biggest choke job in the history of sports last year, or shut up about your 26 titles. Either the past matters (and you've blown up in the postseason recently) or it doesn't. Your call.

you arguments are weak and pathetic
yes we have a high payroll. guess what, thats the way baseball has evolved. with free agency and no cap, you have to spend big to win big. does that mean that you cant win without spending a lot? god no. but does it help increase your chances 10 fold? yes.
secondly, we only talk about the past because we have a better past than yours. the red sox history is a joke. you could make a movie about the red sox right now and it would be a comedy with a cheesy ending. we've won more WS's, we've won more pennants, we've won more games, we've had more Hall of famers, we've had more superstars, and we've had a richer history than you have. i dont blame you guys for being jealous, but theres no need for hostility.
btw 4 years without a WS is nothing. yankee fans have gone through worse, and we know that as long as its 85 or less years, we're still better than the sox.

I'm just saying that New York has made a habit out of signing the wrong players. They get all distracted by the shiny new free agents and pay no regard to actually building a team. The last Series they won was in 2000, which coincidentally is when they stopped signing 'team guys' (Brosius, O'Neill, Tino, Ventura, etc.) and started going after the biggest name available (Mussina, Sheffield, Slappy McBluelips, Johnson) not one of which has helped them win it all. If that's how they want to keep running their franchise, that's fine. Works out better for the rest of the league.

Did you read what I wrote? Or did you sense that I was a Boston fan and automatically go into typical "26 titles, jealous of us, losers, etc" Yankee fan defense mode? I'll admit, I'd love to have 26 or 10 or even 1 more title in the Sox history. Nowhere in that part of my post was there any hostility or angst or anything like that. All I said was to stop playing both sides of the argument. If you want to rest on your laurels and live in the past, go ahead. Just know that with all the accomplishments in the Yankees' history they'll always be remembered as the greatest chokers ever.

Yeap. Despite having the highest payroll in baseball, you still managed to lose a 3 game lead in the ALCS and you've finally got your **** in gear after a miserable season. Congrats, you might be able to avoid a sweep by KC now if you got the chance to play them.

huge yankee fan since I was like 6 or 7. I dont care about the city though, or the whole new york lifestyle, just the yankees. And since before their big winning streak. Has anyone noticed the immense increase in red sox fans since they won the world series lol.

The Red Sox are fading fast but I still think they might get the wild card. The Yankees are the best team of all time.

You won the last series, yet your still in second place. Way to be number 2, when you come back to fenway we'll beat you, win the div. and you'll miss the playoffs because the Indians are better then you.
And dont you dare lump me into the category of red sox fans that are only fans because of last year, I've been there every year since I knew what baseball was, Yankee fans are the worst for that, ask 80% of Yankee fans outside new york to name 5 players still on the team , I bet they cant.

Yea, but its like that for every team, because there are a TON of people who are only Sox fans because of the W.S., and they are out there, no doubt about it, but dont lump me into that category, I've been a sox fan since I knew what baseball was.
