I designed a gun

I got THAT bored so I figured I'd come up with a design. The green lines are sealing non-dynamic Orings. I tried to make the bolt as light as possible. The big red thing in the front is the bolt, possible delrin, the circle marked D is holes in the bolt that go down to fire the paintball. Imagine the square behind it is a shocker HE bolt backwards. The arrow marked A aren't holes. The bolt is solid, A are little divots that break the seal. When it's back air is allowed inside the dump chamber(air in the dump chamber being the blue spray painted part) which is fed through the far left arrow, just like the HE bolt can. When the bolt begins to move forward it seals the air off, once it is all the way forward it goes past the seal(C) which allows in the dump chamber to empty out and go into the bolt and fire the paintball.
The orange Oring is the only dynamic Oring, it is what pushes the bolt back and forth, so it is a balanced spool valve.

The difference between the shocker bolt can is on the part that removes(B), it has the tube holding the dynamic Oring like a hollow round T that isn't open at the back. It splits apart like HE bolt can allowing access to the Orings.

Thoughts?

You should DL solid works (legally of course ) and do a design that way!

looks alot like an ion.

How do you get at the bolt and rings for cleaning and replacement?

Also when the bolt moves into the forward position, opening the dump chamber, it leaves behind it a large empty volume. Is that going to drop air efficiency?

I was thinking all of those points lol

Okay, lots of time in MS paint later
Red dots are Orings that seal but don't move
Orange line is the bolt sail Oring
the grey part is the bolt

Remember, this is really blown up, the bolt is regular sized, so we are looking at the rest of the pin is only 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch.
Here is the "firing can." It is composed of two pieces like the HE bolt with a piece that extends to hold the bolt sail part.

When the bolt is back.

When the bolt is forward

I don't see how the green o-rings aren't dynamic o-rings. An o-ring is dynamic any time any of the sealing surfaces are moving relative to the o-ring.

Also, apart from using the same "divots" to seal the firing chamber as to release air to the ball, and that you've got a rod down the middle instead of a hollow tube, the function is very similar to the Evolve (and therefore Luxe) bolt kit.

Lurker and Jack Wood discovered a while back that the key to making a spool valve efficient is to implement a mechanism that seals the firing chamber before it completely empties. That's what poppet valved guns do naturally, and really you can make anything "smooth" with little tweaks so the real goal for any design should be efficiency. They've implemented this idea on the Geo2 and Eigenbolt, respectively. Long story short, this would be a pretty inefficient bolt.

Then of course you're probably going to have flow issues on top of all that. If you're still bored, give it another go!

Maybe I am missing something, but I also do not see a "closing" force for it?

It's there, the part on the right is supposed to be similar to an Ego rammer.

Sorry, I wasn't really aware of what "dynamic" means.

Does the extra pics help explain it?

Ohh yeah I see your closing force now! You really should build it in solidworks and try it out man!

its my understanding that dynamic orings move and static orings stay in place.

I think that's Valken's definition too.

Dynamic O-rings are ones that they touch something that moves. So if they are on the bolt and touch the "walls", or on the "walls" and touch the bolt, then dynamic. Same applies to o-rings in the solenoid. The dynamic part is not if the o-ring moves, but seals a moving part.

Static are like the o-ring at the top of a reg that seals it to the gun.
