just my .02 but seems like the Geo 3.1 is PE's way of selling the rest of the 3's they have lying around easily by adding some grip and the AT pipe.
Considering World Cup usually lowers the MAP pricing for last years model, it allows them to keep selling "last years model" for the same price with a minimal increase in materials.

I originally shopped that photo above in MS paint in 15 minutes and posted it on Jack's fb page, and tagged him in it several months ago. Mike Phillips posted it on his page and wrote shopped geo in the description

If you look at the true background photo you won't see the bump on the reg rubber at the top. To get it to "line up" I carefully removed it with MS paint eraser. Because shopping it from the LV1 reg would just leave extra rubber hanging out there. The real pic has what the production rubber would look like.

Considering the serial #s are on the frames anyway this wouldn't surprise me

Why are they calling it a 3.1? The 2.0 to 2.1 was really a minor update (POPS+reg collar) that could be retrofitted making the 2.05. You can't add that pipe thing to existing 3.0's. I would have called it 3.5, or hell, change up the milling and call it 4.0. They tweaked the engine too, didn't they?

They did on the GSL, probably not on this. Probably no other changes besides gripframe, at pipe, and hpr. An LV1'd Geo 3

the reg collar was not compatible with all 2.0's..

the new 3.1 does not have the new engine, and no quick release. why would they add the SL features that make it an SL to a regular one? That would defeat the purpose. Im spending nearly 2k on the GSL once its in canada, and for them to basically make a 3.1 into a GSL without the milling would upset me very much. But they wont have a issue on the GSL prices.

IMO, it's exactly what it looks like. A Geo3 with the new style lowers and AT pipe. I'd agree with the speculation saying that it's representing a bridge between the Geo 3 and what will in all likelihood be the Geo 4 at next year's World Cup. I too, will look for a release at the Extravaganza, or whatever the equivalent of Huntington Beach is this year.

Exactly. That's why the GSL is being released first (just quoting you since you were the first one to say it lol). It's smart to bring out the GSL first from a business standpoint. For all the people that would buy the 3.1, will take their money and buy the GSL. Many people would probably be upset if they bought a 3.1, then a month later the GSL came out. This way, people will not be nearly as upset (if at all). With the GSL coming out, it was pretty darn obvious a 3.1 would be coming out with lvl frame and grips.

If memory serves, when the 2.1 was announced there was some backlash. I remember some people were upset, by the amount of fanfare PE put forth on "just minor changes." Could be a photo that "announced" the release for PE, before they were ready or they will just release it with little fanfare

yeah geo3.1 is just the geo3 with the AT pipe and grips. The SL upgrades are all the new bolt changes and the usual SL upgrades. So yes you will have to unscrew your bolt.

The reveal of the 3.1 so close to the GSL doesn't surprise me at all, Eclipse is not going to lose 3.1 customers to the GSL or the opposite. The GSL is for people wanting far more than the standard version of the gun. The 3.1 will be for the masses. I find the 3.1 to be much more worth it than the 2.1 to the 2 a year or two ago being that the geo 3.1 includes a new frame and feel.
