Honestly I think you need to do a bit more research before you jump in, saying you "want a camera with good aperture" means to me that you really don't know what you're looking for, as aperture is all in the lens. In that price range on the canon side of things though, I'd recommend a used 30D which can be had for between 250 and 300, it was my first camera and I learned a lot with it, it's a perfectly capable camera. Just remember though, the end result of your photo is 80% the lens you use, and those aren't cheap if you want reliability and good image quality, though for the price of $100 canon's 50mm f/1.8 lens is great image quality wise, but build quality is lacking. If anything, your camera should be your smaller investment, because it's the lenses that you'll be holding on to as you upgrade your cameras.

Major in Criminal Investigation, minor in photography. That's what I've always been told when thinking about starting my own studio/photo business, major in business, minor in photography. Photography is something that's more dependant on a portfolio than a piece of paper.

Realistically your going to need to save up more than $250 - $300 before you go and buy yourself a DSLR.

it's not quite grey, more of an off eggshell white. Canon's white lenses are their tele zooms in the L series, whereas black tele lenses are not L series. L series lenses can always be recognized by their red stripe, and normally these are the most expensive, top of the line lenses in canon's lineup.

ok is there anything that separates the 2 as how they function or anything? or is it just a better made lens?

between those 2 or L and non L in general? L lenses always have an Ultrasonic Motor Drive or USM that allows for fast, quiet, and internal autofocus, though some non L's also have them. The biggest difference is build quality, though.

And optical performance, most people dont realize the extra work that goes into the actual glass on the L lenses, but IIRC some of the L series lines are still handground glass and have several coatings that prevent chromatic abberation, lens flair, and numerous other unsightly glass defects.

the t1i sorta stinks because it locks in your exposures for video (all auto) but there are ways to get around that if you really need to.
So if you want photography + video on the cheap and a good lens for paintball and then a low light/DOF lens you've come to the right conclusion. Except you need to ditch the 70-200 f4 ...IS... It is around $900-1000 and for sports IS does nothing. If I were you I'd try to find a 70-200 2.8 for around 1,000. For daytime photos the 70-200 f4L (non-IS) is excellent and will be 400 cheaper than the IS model.

In addition to what has been mentioned already, L lens are also considered weather proof/resistant, and all L series lens comes with a lens hood while non-L lens do not.
Get a decent body, but great glass.

not all L lenses are weather sealed, there are actually quite a few that aren't.

I'm seeing a lot of "don't get the IS lens". Why is that?

because you can save 200 some bucks by just holding your hand steadier/use a faster shutter speed/getting a tri/mono-pod. (is the dumb way of putting it)
