been trimming my mask down ever since i got it since my oldie was foggin too much, got hit on the forhead protector and didnt know it was there, thought it was a bounce but bigass hit, i trimmed it a **** load after that. they look like the masks that have the upturned bottom inch, not sure which those are anymore lol. filers right? they about as trimmed as them, and i dont know how far is too far, ive seen ppl play with that up turned bottom, which shows their chin even when closed mouth and i have no idea where to stop lol. right now from perpendicular on any point on the mask it cant hit my jaw bohne or above. so where do it stop?

proflex's are the ones you are talking about ( I think that's waht you were talking about.) Where people would fold up the flex part to talk easier to there teammates ( the only reason i did it)

Mask is huge you could pick up a Profiler or Flex for 20$ on the nation which would be 100x better, my friend got that mask when he 1st started playing and he loved my old Flex so much more.

if you have to keep it though cut off the top of the sides above the strap and the mesh/screen looking parts on the sides

I've got those, but really it's the Java version (which is black and doesn't have the raven emblem)
ultra light mask. I just need a new lense for it. It's also wicked comfy. I sprayed a bit of that anti fog crap on the inside and it quit fogging up like it did on humid days

To answer the question:

Most tournaments, and many fields prohibit ANY trimming. You are supposed to use the mask, as designed, and as it came without any modifications that might weaken, or lessen its protective ability.

The rules date back to the mid 90s. Before that, most pros (and myself) wore GOGGLES ONLY. They never fogged, and you usually got bouncers off your face.

So, they banned Goggles-only, and to get around that rule, we would trim our masks to the point where they were barely there.

So they have to make rules to fix that loophole.

and if you can find me a flex for 20 here then gimmie a goddamn link lol.

um what field do you play at so i know never to go there........ if you got people shooting 370 then i would say keep as much of the mask intact as possible. unless you dont like the way your face looks then in that case hack away.....

but seriously just get a flex there alot nicer than the one you got and not to much $$ for a used one

Yeah, if you have people shooting at 370 you need to ADD to your mask and not take away. You might also want to invest in some good body armor.

But most likely you should NEVER play at that field again.

maybe, but i gotta get a tank first. and its the only one for 2 hours so..... its mostly just the c02 from rentals tansk expanding in the 110 degree sun. since they dont fire for 2 minutes then have a huge spike

once i can drive i will, but my parents wont drive 2 hours each way. and hell no on the armor lol. but you shoulda seen this mask before, i swear you could not have hit anywhere above your shoulders before

i have the same mask so i can tell what youve trimmed off. Just buy a new one, thats what im doing, its not worth it.

O yeh, and at our field you have to have your gun checked before you can play and some kid was shooting around 380, ref didnt have no idea what to say "Umm, yeh, youre shooting almost 100 over so you might want to go back and lower it a little"

heh, we play from 7-12, they prechrono all the rentals at 6. before sunup, and since they use c02.... but yeah i have 3 offers up on diff flex's for 30$ so now this is just for this weekend lol

you should tell a ref to check them later in the day again, its dangerous if they are shooting that high

Thats like...severely dangerous. Wouldnt that break the lense if it got a good hit?

nah, lenses are tested at minimum 400 fps, if not then with harder objects. i know flex uses steel balls or marbles at 370 to test

^^^ my flex lense got cracked with a 300fps shot... (only lenses ive ever seen get messed up from a gog shot)
