Broken Valve -- Read Up

If you have suffered from a broken valve or simply want to perform some preventative maintenance:

From the factory, the valve in the F7/8 is installed with the "flat" spot facing down. This leaves 2 thin areas vulnerable to breakage.

THE FIX:

Simply turn the valve to the flat spot is facing up ... the valve will work installed in either direction but you will now have MUCH more metal for the retainer screw to hold onto which means no more broken valves!

DO YOU NEED TO FLIP YOUR VALVE IF YOU DONT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS:

NO -- but in the long run any ounce of prevention will go a long way!

Not a bad idea at all. I think that most can solve the problem simply by loctiting the retainer screw in as deep as possible. Another fix would be for them to come out with a longer retainer screw like in the Cyborg. That way when it is all the way in, it is flush to the body. It would help keep it from backing itself out.

It doesn't matter if its locktited, the screw doesn't go inside the hole, it just rest around it and if the ram hits it one to many times, it will move and the screw will hit the retaining "wall"

well, in my case, it started with a small air leak. When i slid the grip frame off, the retaining screw was flush with the frame and loose. When i took the valve out, that little sliver of metal that you see in the picture broke off. I am more than willing to try it this way, but i'm still going to locktite that retaining screw in, along with making sure that any other screws that do not need to be regularly messed with due to maintenance are locktited and tight.

From what I was told they were told about this awhile ago and the suggestion was simply made to not mill the flat spot at all ... Is there even a point to the flat spot?

i sent Daneil a email about this, and included this thread and here is what he said:

"Hi Conor,

I'll be honest with you, that problem with the valve has occurred in
the past with the Fusion but is a very very rare issue with the F8.
Since the F8 has been released, we have received less than a dozen
markers total with not just that problem but any problem at that. So
you can take my word when I say that I trust the reliability of the F8
marker.

Daniel"

what i can conclude is that, there could be a slight risk of the valve breaking, but 1) dp will fix it, and 2) its not a big of a problem as we think it is

In any fasor gun I have had Piranha, spyder, etc they all have the flat spot, and every one of them puts it down. This very thing happened to me.

The response I got from DP was that the valve bolt needed to be absolutely tight, as in tighten the livin S**t out of it. Otherwise it could come loose and ruin the valve.

The flat spot must serve a purpose for all the manufacturers putting them in their fasor guns.

gonna do it but

Hey folks I just finished fixing my noid oring and am about to switch over the valve, but one question before i pull it out. The side showing here, with the piece missing is the side I want facing upward toward the barrel if holding normally correct.
