If, though, I could really set up and use a red-dot to make a crossfield shot, it'd be worth going bolt-action.
For bolt-action, I think you'll like the SAR-12 from Carmatech. Granted it costs ~$1000, but...
For something cheaper, you could modify a Spyder to be a Spump, then simply add a cocking handle to the bolt...

I've got an old Cocker sitting around that I've converted to pump. I could cut the feed neck off the top and hand-load these into the breech...

EDIT: BUT, I doubt they're accurate enough to justify cutting up a Cocker.

they are pretty accurate, about the same groupings as FS balls, but the range increase isnt that dramatic

Yeah, don't be cutting up a Cocker...
I'd use a cheap Spyder body and do some of Viking's mods under the "Spump" thread in this forum.

and dont bother cutting the feedneck off, just remove the bolt and feed them in that way

My only question is how did you seal the balls to the fins if you used glue you may run into a problem where the glitter doesnt actually contact. If the shell breaks in front but the back portion stays intact like i have seen then the paint will hit them but the glitter will stay packed in the fins. i wouldn't mind seeing a video of you firing some of these. i wonder if the fins could be re used.
i think your next project should be adding buck shot, or flechette rounds behind the ball. cause then you can't wipe that hit haha.

i was thinking about adding frag

actually when i shot off 15 of these things i had 2 not release their glittery goodness because of what you stated. I put glue all around the edge, but i figure that if i just put 2 drops on either side it will hold better/less so it fully breaks.

i tried a video but you couldnt see the glitter, I'd need a good camera and not just a phone.

Pretty awesome idea! If more than one person is using them on a field, you guys should use different colors of glitter!

if you're going to take it to that level why not put in a few door breech rounds as well.

i rethought my idea of putting shot in and it would probably way it down. but i still stand by flechette rounds. mark the person and precent him from firing back haha

as for a camera set up your phone so its several inches from the target so you can see the impact or borrow a friends camera.

i am interested in to seeing how these perform

Man I would be so mad if I got hit with one of those, Heck Id be afraid to actually shoot it.. if that ball broke in your barrel or god forbid your marker... that would suck on soooo many levels.

i wonder if it would be possible to pull out a little paint fill and inject some glitter into normal balls.

Wife:
whats all this glitter? were you at a strip club?
Me:
Nah babe, its GLITTERBALLZZZ

I believe there was a paint called Cyclone by a company that went by the name Severe. These had a metallic/glitter fill but people were getting really upset about potential scratches on gear, lenses, etc.

I heard it was really solid paint.
