Okay I am in love with the sport and want to upgrade my gear.I am going to list my wanted gear and was hoping if you guys could rate the products and add a different item or something? Also, I hope this is posted in the right forum.... So anyways, here we go:
Mask: Dye I4 White/gold Special edition
Gun: Dangerous Power E1 (Purple)
Hopper:I am thinking about a halo, could someone reccomend a good one?
Pods: Does it matter, hahaha (have a lot)
Bag: Reccomendation please!
Barrel: Dye Carbon (Dust Pink)
Pod Pack:HK Army 3+2 artic pod pack
Air tank: Currently using co2 but I am considering upgrading to HPA, so, could someone please tell me the pros and cons of upgrading and how do you get it filled and such? Thanks to all who have took their time to read this and helping a new player engage more in this awesome sport! Please help me!!!!!P.s. I am buying this over time, not at the same time. Thanks!

Mask: Special edition is not needed really unless you really want the color. SLy profits, and E-flex's are both good masks as well.
Gun: I wouldn't get that E1 i would suggest you get like a used Axe or something. They are solid markers.
Hopper: I would recommend just getting one of the better hoppers so you don't have to get one in the future. Buying used is a great plan. The Z2 is great and the rotor is as well.
Pods: I recommend dollar pods. They are easy to replace.
Bag: Any duffel bag will do just fine. If you have the money then one of the paintball specific bags are definitely good to have.
Barrel: If you get the E1 or the Axe you will want an upgraded barrel. The Dye Carbon Fiber barrel is not really worth the money to me. I would just get an Ultralight or a CP 1 piece. They are a lot cheaper.
Pod Pack: HK is definitely not the best pod pack. I would recommend the Dye Attack Packs. The Sly and Laysick packs are also very nice.
Air Tank: Compressed air is just a much better option for air tanks. It is much cleaner and a lot better for the o-rings in your gun. With the high end guns. Or the Axes and other guns, co2 can essentially freeze the internals of your gun thats bad. Most scuba shops can fill the Compressed Air Tank. However i just fill mine at the field.

this is edging towards a VS article, so it'll probably get closed soon if it goes in that direction. but anyways, starting out just get more basic gear and upgrade up when you discover the type of stuff you want. ex: no need to get a ultralite barrel yet... once the accuracy of your barrel becomes an impediment to your playing ability, THEN choose to get a better one than stock. you won't want to use C02. while it is cheap, it is less consistent, can freeze up the internals of your gun, and is just more of a pain to deal with. Also, if you eventually upgrade your marker, most even mid-end electric markers will fry if you use them on C02. The number one priority for you should be getting a mask better than rentals... a lot of the people that I used to work with at my actually recommended buying the marker LAST and just slowly buying the air source, mask, electric hopper, pod pack, etc first.

like minimaster said, I definitely wouldn't go for a special edition i4 or a cf ultralite just starting out... as for the marker, the E1 is alright, but for the same price you could get a used mid-end marker; when DP markers work, you can't beat them for the price, but they haven't been around long enough to work out all the quirks and kinks in their quality control

I recommend ninja air tanks and as far as size it is what feels best for you. Hydro testing is testing done on air tanks to make sure they are still safe to use for compressed air you have to get them hydro tested every 5 years

keep in mind he's just starting out so he probably doesn't want to dump 300+ bucks on a marker right off the bat

Why do you want an expensive barrel? Any barrel over $50 is extremely overpriced. Get the whole "accuracy" thing out of your head as far as barrels. Different barrels don't provide better/worse accuracy, it's all the same. If you want to upgrade your barrel so bad, then purchase an Eigenbarrel.
Mask: E-flexs, Events, Profits, Proflexs. I4s are meh.
Gun: There are MANY to choose from. Do your own homework (that doesn't mean ask about each and every gun) and you will eventually pick one. I recommend the eXTCy or the Mini for the $300 range.
Hopper: For an Intermediate loader, Halo TOO will be fine. For a "super loader", consider the Pinokio, the Rotor, and the Z2.
Pods: Proto
Bag: A bag big enough to hold your stuff. Don't buy something like a PE bag or Empire. Purely a waste of money.
Barrel: Refer to the above statement.
Pod Pack: Proto or Empire
Air tank: Any 68/4500 (or smaller/bigger) tank will work. I recommend Ninja, since their regs are unbeatable.
GET PADS TOO! It would suck to buy all this equipment, then need pads and not have money for it. Pads are extremely worth it and it's something you should get before the stuff above^

If you really want to upgrade your barrel, just pick up a CP 14" one-piece .689 barrel for like $30; can't beat the accuracy for the price. while pads aren't a must, I would at least recommend grabbing paintball pants and knee pads; they really help. When it comes to masks, the i4 is amazing if it fits your face shape, but if it doesn't, you're gonna learn to hate that mask very quickly. I have friends who swear by the i4, but personally my face is too big for it so it's hot and uncomfortable whenever i try one. Go to a local proshop and try on the different masks they have and pick up whichever you like the best. Keep in mind that the proflex and e-flex (i personally am a proflex user) offer some of the BEST ventilation, hearing, breathability, and quality vision. However, with flex's you'll get bounced through the mouthguard or hit on the sides/bottom of your chin much more than with other masks. The vision on the proflex and the eflex are pretty much the same and both have really good lenses and foam; the main difference besides the price tag is the fact that the lens on the e-flex will take you like 1/20th of the time to change as that of the flex. one thing that i've noticed and that other people at the field with me have commented on is that the dye/proto foam isn't that great. even on their high end i4's, it'll most likely fall off after a few months of regular play. if you really are set on grabbing an i4, when the foam comes off, you can go to any local hardware store. you can pick up either whichever foam density you like and cut it to scale OR you can pick up the heavy duty foam weather stripping which will last much longer. As for bags, I'll honestly tell you that for my first 4-ish years of playing paintball, I never used a "paintball" bag... just any large duffel or backpack will do to hold all your gear. While paintball bags ARE nice, keep in mind how expensive they are.

all that stuff is good! Except i4s profits are better :p
But YES!YES!YES!YES! Get a HPA tank you can get a gurrila air tank with a myth reg for 36.00 Cheap huh? Or you can get a nice Empire carbon fibe for 134+
Hydro testing is done every 5 years on a tank just to see if its safe to use. always check they hydro on a tank before buying used you want one with fresh hydro or 3+ or 2+
Your local feild will fill the tank they have compressors and you can get them filled at a scuba shop if you want to shoot at home.
Your going to regret your username lol

Horrible barrel decision.
I'd suggest (especially since you're a beginner), to try out a .684 Lurker Eigenbarrel. It also will greatly outperform any barrel CP makes, and the Eigenbarrel is (I believe) $42 to your door. It's also lighter and has angled ports if I recall correctly, so it's kinder on paint and provides a bit quieter of a shot.
It'll give you better consistency and range than that of a fancy overpriced Ultralite Barrel with a carbon fiber wrapping around the back bore.
On the rest:
On the hopper, consider an Invert Too, then picking up the Magna clutch ($8) and the Empire Freeway part (I think it's $4-$6). This will cut down on the feeding inconsistencies that sometimes show up with the halo-generation of Empire loaders.
I mean, otherwise for those two add ons, the loader will keep up with literally any gun and any style of play. forever. and ever. and ever.
AND, it's made of the plastic that Rotors and the new Z2 have, so if you eat ****, it'll be the paint breaking, not the neck of the loader.
Actually, P-boarded Pinokios are super awesome loaders as well, they'll run you $20 more, but are far more battery efficient, consistent and weird

If you are looking for another cheap hopper I bought a valken v-max and haven't regretted it since day one. They are a little harsh on batteries but they feed just as good as a halo or even better. The V-max also has a bigger capacity and you can get them for $80 new but i picked one up for $60 that was like new from the BST on here.
