If we keep this trend up, we can consolidate all of ST:T into about a dozen threads.

Boom, Cameron, and I all run linux. Photosynth doesn't support Linux. The speakers are to form a circle around you, the center should be the same distance to the listen positions as the left and right are. That would put the left and right a bit more forward then the center. Having a huge tv in between speakers harms imaging alot and clarity some. It will help the transition from left to center to right a bit more, but most people don't like their speakers chilling in the middle of the room. More them as far forward as you can tolerate and see if it helps. If you can't tell then leave against the wall. No point in doing something right if it doesn't make a difference to your ears.

I hope I get this right and the format isn't wonky:

56 DLP Toshiba (freakin love this set!)
x2 Polk Monitor 50s (front)
x2 Polk Monitor 40s (rear)
x1 Polk CS2 (center)
x1 Mirage Omnisat (rear center)
Outlaw Audio 1050 Receiver
Belkin PureAV PF60 power center
PS3 with attached x2 1 TB hdds with music and video files
Wii
360
Harmony 1000 remote controlling it all
All speaker wire is either Monster MCX-1 or XP series with connects

Harmany dock and this new router I got- really cool display and tools right on the face. Under this you can see two binders each holding 1000 DVDs:

Terrible pics I know but oh well- Bottom shot of the TV and the furniture it sits on showing the Outlaw receiver and PS3 below it.

Maggie sleeping near my chair- view from the back of the room at the TV:

In this you can see the Rear center channel on the red stool. Sits in the middle of the seating which in turn is between the rear left and right channels. My Outlaw receiver decodes rear center in either DTS or 5.1 making 6.1

This is an off-side shot where you can see the sub in the top corner of the room (where it should be) and a peek at the DVD shelf on the wall. There are only about 1500 DVDs on the shelf- the rest are in binders.

The shelf more:

I haven't had any issues like that with the 1000 but I have the 880 in the bedroom and that sticks like that all the time. I also can't dock it on the first try to charge it. The 1000 however has been perfect so far. The only thing I don't like about the 1000 is when I dock it to charge the high pitch noise it makes is killer. The dog runs for cover! It doesn't last long but wow it's intense.

Ok so I have decided to buy a HTIB. Needs to be around $250 with a $300 absolute max.

I would like it to be geared mostly towards music, but its not all that important. It will be hooked up to my computer via RCA (Or 3.5mm plug), xbox 360 via RCA, a TV, and possibly an iPod.

Fox suggested this setup, which I like a lot.

Just asking if you guys have any final suggestions or changes.

Thanks

Ugh just bought the LG unit and it only has one spot for audio in. Only one set of RCA inputs... Plus I think I need a TV in order to make it work.... Which I don't have.

I have my xbox hooked up to the RCA's... any way I can hook my computer up to it as well? Any type of splitter that would allow two sets of RCA's into one port?

Thanks

EDIT : Found a 3.5mm in, but I still don't think it will work without a TV... any way to hook it up to my computer screen?

I have a computer xbox cord so I can play the xbox on my computer screen. It has the D-Sub connector and L/R audio cables on one side then the xbox connector on the other side. I have no video running to the LG unit.
Its just that most of the functions on the thing have to be set/changed via TV. I'm listening to it right now via iPod, but its in 2.1, not 5.1. I also got my xbox to work with it, but it as well was in 2.1 instead of 5.1

I have my computer sound hooked in via 3.5mm cable but can't seem to get it to play.

Basically the only two problems I'm having right now is trying to get the computer to work with it, and getting 5.1 to play instead of 2.1

Update : Got the comp to work in mono mode.

Gonna go buy a RGB to D sub cable and ditch the xbox cord. Just gonna run RGB's from the xbox via the normal xbox cable to the LG unit, then run RGB --> D-sub cable from there to my comp screen. Hopefully it'll work
