Anyone else think that this whole replacement ref "controversy" has been pretty overblown? Clearly, there's some instances where they have ****ed up, but to pretend that the refs last year were worlds better is just dumb. Last year it seemed like the "real" refs were more consistent, but so far this season I've seen some games that were as well officiated as ever and also some games that sucked ****. Overall though, I haven't seen a massive change other then monday night and the amount of official reviews(which I really don't mind since it only insures accuracy).

What people don't realize is that if/when the official refs come back, they are going to be jumping in the middle of the season with no practice. The preseason isn't important for just the teams; it gives the refs a chance to get back in the groove and get used to new rule changes as well.
Yeah, most of these guys have been at it for several years, but that doesn't mean they will drop right in and be perfect. Once they come back, they'll have just as much scrutiny as the replacement refs do now.

no they won't because the only reason the replacement refs are even being targeted is because all the media outlets need some bull**** to fill the airwaves with. They never came down on the "real" refs even as close to as hard as they are on the replacements and there's ample examples of refs ****ting the bed every season. ****, just look at the 2006 super bowl.

You're at a kellster level of delusion if you don't think these refs are significantly worse than the real refs and make the game ****tier to watch.

they seriously aren't, you're drinking some major koolaid. I've seen maybe 2 games where the refs were significantly worse than what we are used to seeing.

They are significantly worse. On top of blown calls, late flags, not understanding the rules, and almost making teams lose games, they are flat out getting taken advantage of by players and coaches.
The integrity of the game is seriously in question when these officials take the field.

I dont know what the 06 SB has to do with anything, but I do agree everyone is being especially hard on the replacement reffs...almost unfairly. They highlight 1 or two instances a week that were horrendous and just beat over everyones head. I've said it before, and I'll continue saying it...I feel bad for them. They've been thrown in over their heads and thrown to the wolves as the goat for 16 teams a week.

Oh no, I agree with that. It really sucks for them, they've been thrown into the fire and obviously aren't qualified for the job. The league is to blame.

the bill warble segments were real tear jerkers.
so many awesome quotes too.
"I realize that success is one thing. Impact is another. I live to impact people."
"Adversity defines true character."
"The only way to ever defeat pain is recognize that pain exists."

No, they suck. We've said. Players have said it.

. Refs don't care probably because they're getting paid.

I saw two last week. The Redskins/Rams and MNF.
MNF was so bad, I turned it off before halftime. In other words, the officiating has affected viewership.

the replacements refs take forever, game times have increased for every week. they are slowing things down. And I agree with everyone else...the refs are bad. On the first vikings game of the year, they said that the head ref was a social studies teacher for 8th grade...do you really want a social studies teacher to be the head official for your NFL game? nope
