Project: Double Tap (Yes, I stole the name from COD black ops)

So, since I'm taking off a bit of time doing OTHER peoples projects, I figure I can get a few of mine done...So I'm going to put this here, and see what happens...

(frame and reg are not representative of what's actually going on it)

a couple things you don't see right away:
- integrated Magnetic ball detents
- Axial roller ball bearing integrated into pump arm precision ground guide rod
- Magnetic pump arm return
- individual velocity "trimming" for each breach.
- carbon fiber pump handle, grips, and possibly a few 10 round tubes.

I guess I should mention that is a little more than just a CAD rendering at this point...

Is there any other pump guides besides the center one and the 2 pump arms? I use to have a WWA pump kit that had a secondary guide and dual pump arms which made it extrememly stable and smooth. I'm sure your design would be fine as is but just an idea.

What kind of valve? Cocker or MQ?

I can't wait to see more finished.

no, there is just the one guide, the two pump arms, and one kick *** bearing.

yes, those are recirculating ball bearings! the bearing is over an 1" long and the fit over the ground shaft is so perfect it'll be nearly impossible to rotate the pump handle in any direction.

It's a cocker valve for right now. I did some quick calculations, and I think as long as I get the right spring combination I shouldn't have any problems feeding two pbs at once.

Kawasaki39, thanks for the offer, but I'm probably going to go with either a custom made frame of a mech cocker frame.

That bearing is great idea, I can't imagine how smooth it will be.

There's a couple double cocker bodies laying around the local shop here that the shop owner machined. One is fully build into an E2 cocker and a couple raw just sitting around. They are all one piece bodies though and full, not half blocks. Point is the valve in the E2 cocker keeps up just fine with the gun on ramp, just uses quite a bit of air and paint.

yes the main body is based on a merlin extrusion.

the black body was a 2k brick body. It had the most "meat" on it for any cosmetic milling I decide to do to it.

on paper that should be the smoothest pump stroke on the planet

edit: how well do you think the bearing will hold up against dirt and debris? are you planning a shroud or cover to help keep it clean?

It should be ok. One side is inside the pump handle, but the other is open. Like I said it's a super tight fit over the shft, so i doubt much will be able to get in, but I could always look into adding a dust shield.

I've never heard of a pump getting too dirty to work, even with the loose fitting parts on a standard pump kit. I don't think it would be something to worry about.

well getting both bolts to cock using a cocker front block is a bit more challenging than just throwing a dual arm pump kit on it.

What material are you using for the pump arm shaft?

I had a linear bearing in a pump kit I made awhile back, I found it to not be as smooth as just a plain delerin handle. Hopefully You will have better luck.

Why not run a hidden pump arm between the 2 body parts?

that's a lot of space, might run into issues with breaking into the air transfer passages. that, and it'd be a pain to assemble, and you'd be hosed if you got dirt or bits of shell in there.

plus, external looks cooler.

Good point, if there wasnt two holes for the body and two hammer slots it would be a lot easier.
