I never really thought about it....

http://cnn.aimtoday.cnn.com/news/sto...20040810ISL105

So... What if Al Qaeda actually manages to disrupt the election?

Lets say they nail 2 or 3 voting booths in certain cities?

Or they manage to throw the U.S. into some sort of crisis similar to 9/11 just before voting begins?

Do we continue on as normal? Do we take out the president right in the middle of a national crisis?

Or do the rules change?

*shrugs* I don't think anything will happen either to be completely honest... However, I'm not so sure it's impossible either... Just something I thought I'd put before the political juggernauts of PBN's small talk...

President Bush will continue to remain in office until the threats lessen. God forbid something is to happen to the President, and Cheney will take his place. With Cheney in office, the Republicans will not win the election.

I am quite nervous about the upcoming months. I am convinced there will be an attempt at a large scale attack.

We had this discussion in my economics class. If they attacked the Republican National Convention-- That's it. All major republicans will be dead. If they attack and fail, Bush will stay. If they attack and succeed, you know....

Al Qaeda don't understand us. They think if they attacked us voters would be more willing to vote in a "a candidate who would be less aggressive towards terrorists" like Spain did.

If an attack did happen it would be bad for the Democrats. That is why they are spending so much time down playing this new terror threat saying it is politcaly motivated.

Shut up man, that's just ****ing dumb.

We continue as usual. If they want to disrupt out election process WHY WOULD WE HELP THEM by *gasp* DISRUPTING ELECTIONS! We hold elections on the same day, in the same way. Besides, no one has the authority to post pone elections.

On a different note, no elected official should ever have the power to post pone elections. WAY too easy to abuse. It's mistakes like that that get countries stuck with a dictatorship.

That's a bit obtuse, Zack. Depending upon the attack, it IS reasonable to believe that elections could very well be postponed. We cannot have a lame-duck President fighting a war.

Bush is not using these attacks politically, Congress is considering them reasonably.

Like I said, we cannot give elected officials the power to postpone elections. End of story. It's so easy to abuse it makes me shudder every time I think about it. I trust exactly zero politicians. They all need to be watched and they all need to be controled.

Can you tell me that you trust Bush? That you honestly believe, 100%, that he has NOTHING but the best interests of this country in mind. That there is no chance that he could take advantage of the country for his own personal gain? Or that maybe he is so much of a patriot that he thinks he NEEDS to stay in office to ensure that our country prospers and survives?

Then you havn't read very well. As "liberals" go I'm pretty reasonable when it comes to bashing your home boy.

Also, why are you determined to lower yourself to the level of the morons who screams **** like "BUSH KNEW ABOUT 9/11! HE LET IT HAPPEN!"

I don't know why our president has to be a big tuff guy anyway. As far as Kerry being a ***** on terrorism.... only time will tell.
Btw:
All the big tuff guys in my school who beat up younger kids all the time now jockey a spatula in a burger flipping joint. So, does it really pay to be a big tuff guy?

well he did say he would never deploy our troops without UN authorization.

During is 19 years in the senate he did vote numerous times to cut defense spending (weapons research/ personnel pay & benifits), favored budget cuts for our intelligence agencies.

Democrats favor domestic and social issues, military and security are at the bottom of their list. It has always been that way and I'm afraid it always will be.

Oh boy, now I have to do this all over again. Kerry voted against the defense spending along with Cheney and Bush Sr. Are they pussies too? I really don't wanna dig all that **** up again so look it up on the Official Election Thread maybe 2-3 pages back.

Yeah, those pesky domestic and social issues will be the downfall of our nation! MUST... WAGE WAR... ON... MORE... SOVEREIGN.... COUNTRIES....
