It wont matter. He's been on multiple leaves since 2007, and Cook has been running the company for a while.
Once the initial public frenzy wears off, and the iPhone 5 drops their stock will bounce back.
He's still Chairman, and he's still going to be doing the things he has done. He just won't be the official CEO, but the company is still going to go the way he has wanted. Jobs has given them a pretty solid path, and they're going to continue to follow it until it doesn't work anymore.

One man doesn't run a company that large. All of their Presidents are very smart and innovative people. And even if Steve was a large part of the decisions, they all know what he would want.

No, man, you don't get it. Steve was the guy drawing iPads on AutoCAD. Steve was the guy brokering deals with Chinese factory owners. Apple is DONE.

He was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer a while back, and has been fighting it ever since in various ways. Recently it appears to have either come back w/ a vengeance, or the treatments are taking its toll because he's been out on medical leave for quite a while (again), and you can visibly see it as well. |
