Petition To Have Paintball In The X-Games
Hey guys if we REALLY want this to happen then we all have to sign this. This is why i posted it.
!PUT IT IN YOUR SIGS!
Do not sign more that once ESPN will then think we cheated because they will see your name more than once in the petition.
http://www.petitiononline.com/pb123/petition.html
Sign the pettition and we will see what the results are.
Thanks,
Crpaint928

In case you've never seen the X-Games, they're all about individual alternative sports. Paintball, in case you never realized, is a team sport. Unless you want ESPN to destroy the sport by creating some sort of haggard beefchuck 1 V. 1 tournament, I would suggest not pushing for it to be included.

they just allowed rally style racing in to the games witch is a team sport since you have a driver and a co-driver.

You have a valid point my friend, but there is only one car! Plus the co-driver doesn't get squat for respect or credit, he's basically just in it for a really fun whip through the rally stages..

You must not watch rally. Because the co-driver is telling the driver what turn is coming up. This isn't NASCAR where they take four turns two hundred times. No offense to NASCAR though.

The X-Games are not focused purely on individual only sports... even though they have dominated the majority of events selected. For instance, the last 3 years at least has seen East Coast vs West Coast Surfing... a team from each coast competing against each other, not individually.

guys, have any of you been to the x-games? If you have, you'd know that paintball wouldn't fit in well because it doesn't serve a good enough "on the edge of your seat" thrill for the audience. People wanna see big air and big crashes...i don't see paintball fitting into that...

umm...paintball is considered more of an extreme sport, i don't think my grandmother would turn on NBC to watch paintball during the Olympics.

The biggest problem with paintball in Xgames is that the Xgames is owned by Disney. Disney in fact owns all of the rights to the activity's performed there and aired on TV. If you watch carefully on the people invited to the Xgames they are all attached to Disney in some way or another. Be it through a sponsor or other dealings. (IE Tony hawk with his video game line)
In order for Xball or Paintball in general to get into the Xgames, Disney would have to buy the rights to Xball or to the teams that competed, and since the teams are currently owned by companies inside paintball, that isn't likely to happen anytime soon.
Individuals are different, since they technically own themselves. So they "Rent" themselve to Disney in exchange for the media time, and sponsorship.
So either, Disney would have to see a reason to own a paintball team or more, OR we'd have to have a mass exisdous of the pro's from the Pro teams so they could be indivisually sponsored by disney in order to attend.....
In short, Money talks....and paintball is small money atm.

Yea, well I think that as many people would be scared ****less to go play with the paintballers in the X-games as they would riding a dirtbike off a jump.

Doing tricks off a 75ft jump is a little more intimidating than playing paintball...i've been racing for 18 years now and i'm pretty sure that fmx is a little more exciting than paintball.
