It's entirely possible that this mask failed other tests of the ASTM. Maybe they didn't provide the right protection required when playing paintball. IE: possibly because it didn't have regular eye guarding, it was considered unsafe if a ball went up from the bottom of the mask into the eye area, something besides the lense failing. Couldn't they just make it thicker if that were the case?

I'm pretty sure it was ans that started the preorders, not angel. Ans has a proven track record to start preorders for stuff well before they are given the go ahead by the manufacturer to do so.

I wore one of the prototypes on a hot humid day, and I specifically tried to make it fog badly and couldn't make it fog noticeably... I attribute that to the venting configuration on the mask. IMHO they fit much better than any mask I had worn. I found the way they sat on the cheek bones more comfortable than resting on the bridge of the nose (they way all other masks do).

I think many of the things people liked/disliked about these came down more to preference (i.e. fit, looks, etc.) than function.

I think it's a shame they weren't able to get them to pass testing as I fell in to the seemingly large category of folks that liked the way they looked and fit.

So after I made this thread on PbNation telling people about the Angel Eyes, a friend asked me if I wanted to show off his actual pair of goggles. I hate making videos but I couldn't say "no" to that. So, here is a pair of 100% legitimate Angel Eyes.

Agreed. I have always been a huge fan of WDP/APS from a design stand point but I don't understand why there was ever so much hype about these.
