Battle for Stalingrad if you want a WWII theme/name. One side Russians the other side German. Germany laid seige to stalingrad and broke through their lines. The Russians wore down the Germans and didn't let them take the city. Historically speaking. Granted, I think that's a bit of urban style combat, though.
