VerticalScope acquires PbNation.com

As of recently, CrowdGather has officially transferred the ownership of PbNation.com to VerticalScope. Take a deep breath. Everything will be OK. The sky won't fall. In fact, everything should stay pretty much the same.

VerticalScope is actually a significantly larger company than CrowdGather. Not just that, VerticalScope is committed to PbNation and has the resources to help the site grow. I am personally looking forward to working with VerticalScope and helping the PbNation stay the most popular paintball website in the world.

I'm also happy to announce we are also bringing aboard Philip. He's been with VerticalScope for a while and will be leading the team handling technical issues and making sure PbNation stays up, loads quickly and moves forward.

Having said that, PbNation has always been about the community. You are the most important part of the site and as always, we'd love to hear your opinions on what we can do better.

How does this affect the community? It shouldn't. Our mods are staying on, I'll still be here and the Verticalscope team is committed to the site. The transition should be seamless.

I am sure some of you have concerns, so don't feel bad if you have a question. More importantly, I am sure some of you have suggestions on how VerticalScope can improve PbNation.

Thank you for your support throughout the years, and we genuinely expect this move will lead to big things.

What did CrowdGather do with PBnation, anyway? I was under the impression this was just something a few guys started and run with the VBulletin software. So it is part of a larger company? Interesting

They were small compared to VerticalScope and had limited resources. However, there are some really good people there and they never did the community or myself wrong. And we have them to thank for the homepage. CrowdGather has also shifted their focus to online social games and apps, so that new direction didn't fit with PbNation as well as when they bought the site three years ago.

VerticalScope is huge into forums, especially car forums. You might well have heard of some of their other forums or sites like http://motorcycle.com, http://autoguide.com or The Truth About Cars. They also do a lot of content, which is something PbNation has never really done.

Trust me, it's one of the first things we discussed. However, it's not a simple switch to flip. We have to make sure we don't break Gold Ups, ASM, BST Trust or any of the other upgrades and we need to make hard decisions about what features to include (like feedback?) and what can be left out.

The ios app is already pretty legit I use it almost exclusively for nation on my iphone. Other than a few minor hiccups here and there it runs well.

With one big caveat for me. When I go into edit a post it automatically deletes all the hard returns. Lets fix that.

Yeah I remember when VerticalScope bought Pirate4x4.com. Glad to see you on here too Philip. Its a little lighter and nicer crowd here than Pirate. So you shouldn't have too many problems here bud

and personally id like to see different tiers of asm packages.. personally i have 2 gold ups i never used, and were wasted money, so maybe a package without the gold ups, and one with..

I hate the iOS app.

It doesn't tie in properly with the website especially with private messaging. I suppose it is fine if you use it exclusively, but crap if you bounce between the two.

One of my favorite features is the Locker feature which is not available in the app.

Hmmmm, what do you mean about the PbN App not tying in properly? I know it drops quotes, is that what you mean? I always thought that was intentional.

And I agree about Locker! But that's not something an off the shelf App would support. So you see what I mean about it not being easy.

Never had continuity problems in pming or on the forum. Just the loss of hard returns.

Also id like to see non marker manufacturers have a section.

So like a GI section, Virtue Section, etc... Somewhere where mask, loader, etc... Can be posted that are manufacturer specific.

Same and it does the same thing to me. Also sometimes the pictures show up as half of one pic and half of another
