I think it should be a level playing field, everyone can shoot as fast as each other. 8 10 12 B.P.S But what ever you determine.

Use the APPA.
Do not base rankings on PSP rankings (other than for the case of pro's).

if they use APPA exclusively then all the old d1 and semi pro teams will just reclassify to rookie because they wont have any record on APPA for at least two years if at all. They kind of have to wait until the PPL data base is released from court proceedings or they are going to have a lot of sand bagging this season which is probably why they aren't starting till April and why they probably haven't answered any of my emails regarding the situation. On the other hand though i don't think Fraige and the Lamanski's are going to let anyone they know is classified higher register for a lower division.

The way I see it, if you have to sandbag that badly to win, you're not that good to begin with. Or at least have no confidence in your abilities. Anyone with any sort of pride is going to play in the division they belong or maybe 1 division lower at most.

You'd be surprised how many people will sandbag as much as possible for the prizes.

Appa

I think the benefits of using the APPA system far outweigh any perceived "cons". I think the cost will be reasonable and paying for ID cards is pretty much expected at a league at this level.

We have used the APPA system for our smaller tournament circuit and Chris is always easy to contact at any time day or night. The system is user friendly and if you have a problem Chris will walk you through it. I find it amazing that he has developed this system.

I think the best benefit will be having the teams "police" each other. I think this will keep the sandbagging to a minimum and ultimately will make it fair for everyone. Just keep those "reclassification" instances to a minimum and everyone should be content.

The only way to pay for this would be by charging for ID Cards. I just want to set your expectations and make sure there aren't any false hopes out there for not having to pay for an ID card.
not sure if you are familiar with the meeting in Atlanta, but you should wait until the census is released after that meeting.
hopefully APPA decides to release an APPA card system.

Hell I can say I pulled more pedophiles and child rapists off the streets then he ever will.. I solved more homicide's then he ever will..

What you do, and being well liked.. Are not one in the same.. Most people don't like me, but you have to respect what I do....

I don't have a problem with Chris, think he is a good guy.. What I said was more of a joke, I would assume he saw it that way, and knows where its coming from considering the new(er) line in his signature.

I like the concept of being within 1 division of the other league. Most D1 teams from NPPL can't just jump into D1 XBall or 5man for their first time and be competitive. I know there were a couple exceptions to the rule but in general a top 10 NPPL team might not be a top 10 PSP Xball team if they haven't played that format before. This works going psp to 7man too, just look at the NXL teams that had troubles making the cut in 7man in the semi-pro division but were quite competitive in NXL.

The reason teams sandbag isn't for the prizes, it's to save money on the entry fees most likely. I would enter my team higher if we had the money and knew we were going to be competitive in that division. Otherwise you should always enter as low as you can to save money...but i do see D2 in both leagues being harder than D1...the only perk of playing D2 is for the lower entry fee and not screwing up your classification to only play the higher division or be "that guy" that is the only d1 player allowed...etc..

But i also understand that a team shouldn't just be allowed to enter at the pro level that has never played a national tourney before...that's how NPPL 10man used to work...if you had the cash you could play any division you wanted as a beginner...lots of teams started out much higher than they should have and in return did not return (LTZ NXL??). It's a very hard balance i think...

In terms of the APPA System, i mean it works ok for now. I wish it were much better but with all the continuous work raehl puts into it and amount of leagues using it...it only makes sense unless you are putting USPL money into the PSP by supporting the APPA. I'm not sure how they are tied but it is a good system and i'm sure you could get a programmer to write a system that checks the appa system for player classification along with trying to look up the old nppl data if it were ever to become public.

Anyways, keep us informed with what you decide. my team is one of the ones that is a D3 PSP team and D2 NPPL team if we were to play as low as possible.

APPA. It's expensive, but it is PROVEN. Players being charged $35 isn't going to stop them from playing the league.
