This happened to me too. I'm still trying to get through it, but about halfway into the first Mass Effect I just don't give a ****. I'm not exactly one to avoid story based games (loved KOTOR and DA ), but I can't take listening to yet ANOTHER life story from everyone I talk to.

ME2 and (so far) ME3 make playing ME1 worth it. I had the same experience when I first played ME. I bought it and never gotr more than a few hours into before losing interest. After I decided to just power through it in a few days because I had heard how great Mass Effect 2 was, I grew to really enjoy it. Now the Mass Effect series is easily one of, if not my favorite game series ever. The only thing that might top it for me is the Mechwarrior series.

I've got an evga card, it's awesome.
I was reading reviews on newegg and everybody was *****ing about how these parts were really loud. "The cpu cooler is obnoxiously loud!" "The gpu fans are stupid loud!" "The psu sucks! It's soooooo loud I hate it!"
****, I'm sorry but these "people" must be dogs. Nobody can call these parts loud. Even under very heavy strain, they just hum quietly.

evga is good stuff, I just went gigabyte since it was cheaper and i had good experience with their motherboards. I think its so quiet since the fans are actually at an angle, they call it "anti-turbulence"
when i first installed it i thought the card was DOA since at idle speeds it makes no freaking noise.

I don't get why people ***** so much about noise. Even when I had 5 1000+RPM 120mm fans in my case, and it sounded like an air conditioner, it didn't bother me as long as **** wasn't rattling.

I went with a gigabyte motherboard as well, I like it a lot. It's not high end at all, but it's got what I need.
I got my EVGA card on sale.

I don't get it either. I use headphones when I play, so it blocks ALL noise. When I'm done playing, it usually calms down since I'm not using the GPU much.

I have a total of 17 fans (including PSU fan) in my case... and my brother-in-law's aircooled rig is louder.

My new case has lots of liquid cooling planning in place. Areas for radiators, tube holes, etc. I'm cool with fans though

Well yeah, 1000RPM 120mm fans are basically silent. You could have 20 of them and they wouldn't be very loud. They don't get much slower than that. It's those little 80mm 3000RPM ones (graphics cards, stock coolers) that suck badly.
I have an EVGA GTX 580 and when you fire up a stress test like OCCT, the fan is fairly loud. I don't really hear it during any gaming, but with OCCT it's easily the loudest thing in the case. I also have open-back headphones, so it doesn't block out the whining sound from bad fans. Also tons of graphics cards cap fan speed at like 80%. Push that **** to 100% to get some real volume of it.

Yeah, it's the lowest I've seen it yet. As tempting as it was, I passed. I have too large of a backlog to play through still.

It's worth playing. I waited until I got my new computer setup before I finished the campaign. So far, it's pretty good.
I'm getting BF3 once I get situated in my new house...if the wife lets me

I posted a few in the build thread, I didn't think anybody was interested so I kept it to a minimum. I'm using an old keyboard and monitor, but this is it.

I use the Imperator. So much sexy in a mouse. Only problem is, after 1.5 years of heavy use, it's starting to double click and **** on occasion.
