NJ is in a pretty close tie with Texas for worst state in America, since both states are pretty similar, IMO.

I have long since cut ties with all of my Texas history. Everyone thinks it's a great state while they live there. Once I moved out, I realized how ****ty it really is.

When I moved to AZ, I made sure that I skipped over Texas completely. Awful, awful state.

We went through Jersey back in '08. My family and I were going through Hackensack to the Ice House to watch my cousin play for the National Championship with Little Caesars '93s (they ended up winning it all)
Anyway we were driving through town after town (evidently historical-esque because all of the buildings were old looking and run down.)
Maybe it was just me at the time thinking it was hilariously inappropriate, but as we were heading to NYC my dad just kinda mumbled under his breath:
"Jesus, you gotta get hit by a plane to get a new building around here or what?"
I don't think I've ever felt more ashamed of myself for laughing that hard.

Bahahahaha, that's terrible.
It's probably a good thing I haven't been to NJ before becoming a Devils fan. I think that would've deterred me, if I knew what I know now.

Hackensack wasn't so bad, and the Ice House was a pretty nice facility. Fun fact about it:
In Denis Leary's show Rescue Me, about the fireman in NYC, the firefighters play FDNY vs. NYPD hockey games throughout the seasons and it was all filmed at the Ice House.
Thought it was pretty cool that I've been to that particular facility.
