that's the one place you don't want to be cheap. Protecting your eyes is of the utmost importance. So if the mask is very comfortable, doesn't fog, then chances are you'll leave it on at all the appropriate times like you're supposed to.

try and save on your pants or somewhere else, but that mask is a safe, great long term investment.

I'll say the same thing my friend told me. Both of us used to ride motorcycles before he got hurt. He said before you buy a bike, buy a helmet first. Find one that fits you, have all the necessary certs and the most comfortable.

Same goes for a paintball mask. There is nothing more important safety gear in paintball than a mask. Our safety briefing guy used to always say "you came here to the field with a pair of eyes. We tend to keep it that way and go home with the same pair".

True story, I used to use that line in my safety speech until I looked to my left one day and there stood a gentleman with an eye patch. My speech has now changed to we like you to leave here with the same amount of eyes that you showed up with. He laughed it off but I have never felt so awkward haha.

Like others have stated, The mask is the worst place to cheap out on. Invest in a mask that fits you well. Last thing you wan't is to not be able to see due to fogging or constinantly adjusting it to make it fit.

Proflex is a good mask. And I agree with the guys above me, you don't want to go shoot both of your eyes out.

From personal experience, mask should be the first item you buy, and skip the cheap crap, go straight for the 50-100 dollar range, try them on at a local shop. Pick one that covers an adequate amount of your face, your whole ear, preferrably entire chin and forehead. Also for the love of god get a thermal lens for whatever you buy, if it doesn't come with one. Not thermal coated, dual pane thermal lens.

Play with a rental gun package to test the mask until you are 100% happy it's performance, then start worrying about other gear. I did things backwards to that and made the mask the cheap piece of used gear i got and I've subjected myself to a lot of unnecessary hardship because of it.

proflexes are great masks, but annoying to clean and the ears are too small

I LOVE my i4s but there is no doubt they're overpriced. I would recommend the e-vents

Proflex's are great and they are much cheaper than a pair of e-vents or i4's. I was at my local field and some guys from washigntons pro team the vendetta showed up and had proflex's.
