so question: Why do vegetarians eat food that taste like meat/imitate meat?
For people who are veg and are doing it for better health I can see why.
For those who dont eat meat because they think its disgusting or people arent supposed to eat it then why?

just curious/wondering.

Vegan Alfredo Sauce (delicious, too, might I add):

Cashew Cream:

1 cup Cashews
3 cups Water
2 oz. Rice Wine Vinegar
6 T Sugar

Place the cashews, rice wine vinegar, and sugar into a food processor or blender. Slowly add the water and process until smooth, and gains a heavy-cream like texture.

In a saute pan, briefly saute 2 T of garlic in 2 T of peanut oil. Add the cashew cream, and 1 T of nutritional yeast, and cook until desired consistency. Add more nutritional yeast to taste + salt + pepper. This sauce can be used on pizzas as an alternative to red sauce + cheese (since the nutritional yeast adds a parmesan-like flavor), in pasta dishes, on sandwiches, etc.

So are you a vegetarian because you're afraid of the affects of meat on your digestive system because you've never had it or because you have some sort of justification, besides bragging?

Recently turned vegan. Feel better than ever.

Not sure if serious

Beans are an excellent source of iron, and when paired with brown rice gives you all the essential amino acids that meat provides.

just curious/wondering.

Take jello for example. If you loved jello and all the things you could do with it and then found out there was something that looked just like jello and tasted as good or better than the real thing and was also healthier and processed humanely would you not use that product instead?

Spaghetti or Ramen (don't use the seasoning) with vegetables and soy sauce have been my most common dinner meals.

PB&J for lunch.

Seitan is also a pain in the *** for me to perfect

Sub rolls, vegan gourmet mozzarella, gimmie lean fake ground beef and pizza sauce. Ball up the gimmie lean into meatballs and brown them in oil on the stove. Pre heat the oven to 375, sauce on the sub rolls, put the hot meatballs on the sub roll, put the shredded mozzarella ontop with a little more sauce then stick them in the oven for 12 minutes. Delicious vegan meal.

Grew up in Nebraska on a farm. We raised our own cows, pigs, and chickens. Also, butchered them ourselves.

I never cared for fish, but we lived 20~ miles from the Missouri River, so we'd also fish.

Always had fresh fruit available during seasons (farmer market style) +plus my moms own garden, some of the cows were dairy cows, so had farm fresh milk. The chickens lay eggs, so there are our eggs.

Would never choose to be a vegetarian. It does annoy me tho, when people go and say something like, "I'm a vegetarian, but I do eat chicken/fish."

After a show one night, I took a bolillo (no egg/honey/butter) we bought from this Mexican bakery in Ft. Worth, filled it with "ground" veggie burger and pizza sauce. SO GOOD!

Been eating so much tofu scramble too.

How do you cook your tofu scrambles? My gf and I made some pretty good French toast the other day.

put tofu in pan, squish it with a fork, throw some soy sauce, yellow curry powder, chili powder, garlic, onion, humus, and pepper on there.

I threw some soyrizo in there, put it on top of a bagel. SO GOOD!
