PC GURU ADVICE NEEDED: How to Physically Remove Internet Access

Im looking to purchase a new MacBook but will probably default to a PC based system due to this issue.

Goal is to physically remove internet capabilities from the computer. Not go into the setting and turn it off or disable it. But to have the actual hardware removed.

I have a feeling espiecally on the mac books that it is some how intertwined with the motherboard. A complete custom build might be the only way.

Enlighten us with knowledge.

The ethernet port on the laptop (Mac or PC) will be hardwired to the motherboard. In most (but not all) PC laptops, the wireless card can be removed. I'm not sure, but I would wager that the wireless controller in a Macbook is hardwired to the board too.

You could see about cutting off a spare CAT5 cable's male part, cutting off part of the little clip that you use to get it back out and just putting it in the ethernet port. Cheap, effective and still removable by pliers or knife or something.

But I think the wireless card is hardwired onto the Macbook mobo.

Can you explain more. Im not sure what the first paragraph is trying to accomplish? Are youtalking about an old school setup for internet access?

Is there a way to run MAC OS from a pc like running boot camp on a mac.

This is gunna cost alot lol.
There isn't a way to run Mac OSX legit on a PC, not even virtual-PC style. You CAN put Hackintosh onto a PC, but a lot of **** doesn't work, and you have to go through a lot of trouble to get it installed in the first place.

It would be easier to just use self-control and not go on the internet. If you work in an industry where your computer should have literally no internet access (I can't think of any where this would be the case) you should have an IT staff that provides the computers that have been modified for this need. It's like the blackberries with no cameras.

Unless you are the IT staff, in which case you're asking the wrong people.

If they REALLY want to get on the internet they could just bring a USB wired/wireless adapter or aircard (assuming you don't krazy glue all of the USB ports shut).

Make a second user and make it so their account doesn't have access to the internet...then only log into that account at work.

This is seriously dumb. If you need to physically limit your access to the internet to reduce distractions then you shouldn't be on a computer at work. If you have to use a computer at work, then the people who hired you are morons.

Yeah I was thinking about the same line. We aren't really looking for used equip and if its from the dinosaur ages it many not support our stuff. I complete custom build may be the way to go.

I work in audio production this is for a private studio. I need to have it locked down tighter than a tic's ***. From internal and external threats. We have been hacked before. And as I said in OP not looking for soft disabling via software parameters, deleteing the feature is the deal here.

The internet is like a cell phone. A commodity that has become a necessity to some. We do not need it nor do we want it on here.

Is there a reason you're going with a laptop? If portability isn't a necessity, you could go with a desktop and just not plug in an ethernet cable.

You could just de-soloder the Ethernet port from the motherboard if that's what you really want to accomplish.

Yeah this should be sufficient. It seems liek thats all there is too it. I was wondering if there were any trick or if it was more invloved but I guess its a dive in and find out. Also would be application specific.

Like others said, there is questions to the legality of it.

I built one but had too many problems gaming in Parallels and Fusion. Since that was my primary entertainment and I fell in love with Eyefinity, I sold it and built a beastly desktop. If I ever want to mess in OS X, I use Virtualbox.

I have an apple machine running via vmware on my machine, yes, OSX. No, I did not build it tho and have no idea how he did it, but it's a working vm machine.

as far as taking out the wireless, cut the attenenna, and the hardwire port, but the pins out.

Protect any wireless internet with a pass word and mac-address filtering, then desolder the ethernet port.
