churches are pissing me off

you know why? because too many of them have some nice properties, and cry about wanting activity programs for their teen-young adult members, AND YET, they make it too damn hard to get consent to set up a field on their land. i honestly hate it, when they suddenly lose faith in their fellow human beings, and anticipate lawsuits.

Why are you trying to set up a field on church property?

Not all are like that

A mega-church in the Phoenix area actually set a up a field and runs it every Saturday as an outreach to the youth players, as well as adults. Well run, don't put up with crap from the players (cheating/cussing) and keep it a family atmosphere.

I think players realize they are guests of the church and play more respectful. I always take my stuff to Phoenix to hit up that field when I am on vacatioin.

Don't know if you realize this but playing paintball on a "nice property" tends to make it not so nice anymore. I don't blame them for not wanting people ripping up their lawn.

One of our local fields is run by the church group on church property. They run it every Saturday and Sunday and all money that is made goes to scholarships for kids that attend the church.

The best field I've ever played on was run by a church. They changed the sup airball field every weekend. As a frontman, this was awesome because I could attack the field differently every weekend. One day it was setup in such a way that I could just run in a figure eight in the middle of the field and take out at least 2-3 people not long from the break. Another day it was setup so that I could dive over the 50 tape bunker into the other team's 40. Man, it was so much more fun to play than a PSP field.

Eventually people were threatening litigation, so they closed it down. You know how south Florida goes; people are always looking for ways to make free money.

I don't blame them. The property wouldn't be nice after a day of paintball.

really, are you seriously that forgetful? the paint WASHES OFF/OUT, with this neat stuff, called water.

r90t, woodsplaya, subterfuge; did any of the church staff state how they got around their insurance polcy limitations, to allow their fields to be built? i'd like to know, so that i can pitch it to the local church elders here.

This was like 10 years ago. I don't remember all the technicalities, I was just there to have fun. I believe this was why the field was shut down. Someone had a bunch of sup airball bunkers, and just set them up in a grassy church field without nets in the beginning. Ironically it shut down shortly after they built nets. I am sure the field would of lasted longer, had it not been by a main road. We had lookouts that told us to stop playing whenever someone drove close near a secondary road, or when there were horses.

The equestrians I believe were the ones that tried to sue and call the cops on us. They were complaining that our markers were scaring the horses despite them being 100 yards away and us totally stopping the game before they even came close. This type of sue happy attitude made me cynical of the rich in our neighborhood. Sometimes I wonder if frivolous lawsuits helped them become part of the lower upper class. ****, some of the kids today at the certified field act like they are sons of a mafia the way they lie and cheat off the field. All I here is loads of bull**** coming out of there mouths, then I see them load up in mercedes benz or lexus SUV's.

Because there were CEO's and Vice president's of corporations playing on that church field, there were mini three man tournaments for tickets to a baseball or football game sometimes. The 3 man tournament would just be created on the fly, which attracted some decent tournament teams to the field. When the cops showed up because they were called on us, they just watched from the bleachers.

Even still most places don't want the hassle of clean up. The liability is another reason it would be a no go. I've known of churches to make skate parks so anything is possible. You're going to get a lot of resistance.

so, it's just up to the churches to decide to risk it, instead of finding a legal loophole? well, let's just hope that i can finally convince some elders to see it as a positive thing, to keep their at-risk members busy, for a while.

When you say paintball gun and at risk youth eyes are going to pop. Not trying to be a downer, but preparing you for what you have to argue against.

Why don't you contact some of the churches that are doing it right now and ask them? Compass paintball in Charleston does it.

The proper term is marker, and always has been. Gun is just a slang term.

I never say gun less talking to people inside the sport, im careful to correct those outside the sport with marker. It IS a sport, and only simulates combat when we try and make it. Markers have little in common with fire arms truly. More in common with blow guns honestly.
