Yes they have done this before. But that's 16 teams (pro's) your talking about who only play on one field where they put all their top reffs. At Huntington there will be over 100 teams playing on 3 fields with some new reffs who haven't even reffed an event yet. Things will be slower no matter what. I bet after the event the NPPL will sit down and talk it over on weather or not this is even worth is.

The refs are on the field they are not watching computers to see if the chips are going over the limit. The NPPL staffer watch the computers on each field and will radio a ref if a player has a marker that goes over the limit. Rather simple solution to a rather ****ty pary of the sport (cheating).

Each chip has a number code for it. Each player puts the chip into their marker and then it gets input into the NPPL tracking system with the players name and player ID.

I have a question about this.

So if one of my teams guns goes down and we can't fix it in time, can we borrow another teams gun with their chip in it? Maybe say a pro's gun or something? I know the stats will not be the same, but would it matter whos gun you use as long as your ID card says you play for said team that is borrowing the marker?

I doubt that before each game they will open the marker to see that the chip ID matches your players ID. This is just my two cents due to knowing the logistics of timing to keep each game on time throughout an event. Having to sort out each player who is entering a field to play who may have a borrowed marker would take a lot of time.

I guess any pro players who used these chips last season might have some insight into this or actually calling Virtue or shooting them an email with that question might give a better response.

I would assume that picking up extra chips for having back up markers is a much better solution than hoping that using a borrowed marker and expecting the ROF stats to still be able to be tracked to a certain players ID who is borrowing said marker.

When you chrono your gun in the pit you will stand over a virtue tech with a computer that will link your gun before each game to his computer. You can switch your chip out after every game and it wont make a bit of difference. Its the computer that holds the data, not the chip.

Here are some visuals for folks. This is the chip for the Empire Axe. There will be an install video coming shortly for both the Axe but also for the Planet Eclipse Ego.

Most guns are so tight on space internally, I don't know how these will fit... I'm sure they do, otherwise they wouldn't be using them, but they look HUGE!

Big? Seriously? For the data that these will be providing to teams I think its on the small side of things. While some markers are tight for space they have been tested for long enough that they will no fail. Most products get released into the market place without a full season of testing by all pro teams so I would consider that a huge advantage when it comes to this type of advancement.

Chips will be $60 for extra ones for back up markers.

I only have an Ego so I cannot test the Ego chip sent to me for beta testing/install video out in a Geo since I don't own one.

Anyone feel free to mail me one free Geo and I will be able to reply with a much better answer...
