I usually keep shooting until they get up and walk away. I dont care if you are waving your hand trying to say "dont shoot, I'm hit". Get up and walk off the field.

Things like that are frowned on at our fields. The point of waving is so the other player stops shooting. We also say once you wave another player off, you've called yourself out. There's no reason to keep shooting, and any other shots are over-shooting.

absolutely.
Once a player signals they are out, you should stop shooting immediately, and our refs will call people for overshooting.

Behaviors such as that should be frowned upon by all fields.

Have you ever seen a player wave their hand, and then continue to play (MN rising- " you've called yourself out" this is not the case in most tournaments)? I have, and thats why I shoot until you get up and walk away. In my opinion, its pretty easy to get up from your bunker and walk away. As soon as I see someone do this, I stop shooting. You will not be over shot if you stand up behind the bunker.....and walk back. Might end up with 1 or 2 more balls, but is that really "over shooting"?

I've seen more people over shooting than I have start shooting again after a wave off. The only time I've ever seen someone shoot after a wave off was at a scenario game, and it was cause someone continued to shoot them as they were walking off.

Why risk an over shooting penalty when they'll get called for playing on? Its just not worth it.

I guess I just want to make sure that they get out (not the case in open play). I have seen too many wipers, and non playing on calls. To each his own....

I have been on both ends of this, and would expect the other guy to keep shooting until I walked off. A couple extra balls is not that bad when you figure people are shooting 13.3 bps.

But not everyone at an open play group is a tournament player shooting 13.3 bps. If refs at your field aren't calling out players then maybe you should talk to the refs or the field owner, not take it out on some poor open play who's out to have fun.

If I wave someone off in open play and they keep shooting me, you can bet I'll turn around and give them a few shots for not paying attention and for their lack of curtesy. When I ref tournaments I pull out players who wave off other players because that's a sign of elimination or forfeit, the exception being at the end of the game when they're signaling to team mates so their team mate doesn't come around and shoot them.

When I was saying I shoot until you get up and walk away I was talking about playing and shooting while in a Tournament. I specifically stated that this is "not the case in open play", as I would never do that in that setting.

Sounds like you have your stuff together as far as reffing events, however not all refs are like that.
