2012 MLB Discussion Thread
Preseason is starting at the end of the month, and I couldn't be happier.
February 29th, 2012 @ 1:05 Eastern:
Seminoles (A)
Phillies (H)
I'm a Yanks fan, though.
Who are you rooting for, and how do you follow it? I'm looking for suggestions on alternatives to paying for cable television. I know in the past MLB had a service at mlb.tv that you could link with a roku player to watch games up to a week after they were played, but roku is saying that they no longer have that service available.
//edit: seems as though they are releasing the mlb.tv package for xbox 360 users. SWEET
Ideas? Discuss.

as a yankee fan mlb.tv is useless to you, Yankee games will be blacked out because you can well......watch them on TV. I used to pay for .tv so I could watch O's game but since I work evenings I rarely got to use it so I couldn't justify the cost, gameday audio or whatever they call it now is awesome though if you are the kind of person who doesn't mind listening over watching. I'm considering the gameday audio for my cell phone this season.
listen to every game even at work? yes please.

Not entirely ... even blacked out games are available about 90 minutes after completion for playback. I don't honestly care if I know who won, I'm one of those that likes to just watch baseball. That said, I don't mind watching other teams play, either.
I'm looking forward to the season regardless of what route I choose to go.
And boo.. O's...

My mom loves the Bills ... I absolutely hate them.
As for the O's being my retarded nephew. I laughed. Hard.
I don't think the Yanks are going to do it this year. Who's your money on?

I picture you with an "Oriole Shrine" set up in some obscure corner sort of like you saw in Seven.
Hear you on not wanting to make predictions; just can't help but see the players as they stand now and wonder ..

Bets on how many games the Mets will lose this year? I'm gonna say they lose 98.

I think yanks could take it all. They were good last year and improved their rotation immensely.
I thinl mets will hit the century mark. Probably 61-101

I have to do more research. I'm interested, but I think with some of the assets other teams have, they're not going to be a match.

Uh, Drex, you and I already have made our predictions, remember?
Double or nothing on who will have the better record. Washington Nationals or Baltimore Orioles.
So, basically, come September, you'll owe me 20 bucks

Part of me hopes they lose 100+. I also want the owners to finally settle their lawsuit (and lose) and sell the ****ing team to owners who will actually treat the Mets like a big market team.

89–73 in '08, wasn't aware 3 seasons means ages. I figure they'll be in rebuilding mode for '12 and '13 though.

Definitely not gonna be a 70 game winner. The only thing I'm hoping for this year is break out years from Ike Davis, Jon Niese and Dillon Gee. Maybe Lucas Duda. I don't expect to see Harvey, Familia or Wheeler early in the season this year, but next year they should be able to start the '13 season with the big league club.

Lets Go Royals! I'm psyched for opening day! Nothing better than opening day at Kauffman. And I have been to 6 other diamonds.
I'm calling Royals in the playoffs this year. Done.

Yes, you have a point there, but hell maybe our bats and defense will make up for it?
When you grow up a KC Sports fan (other than Sporting) you just learn to enjoy the little wins. Like sweeping the Yankees in opening series at Kauffman a few years ago. So even a 100 win season would be a good thing.
