Our costco here has a costco gas station in its parking lot and usually its 5 cents-10 cents cheaper per liter compared to everyone else, so that pays for my membership just getting fuel from them

there's nothing more to tell. the gasoline from a chevron or shell comes from the same place as an arco or costco, there is no "poor refinement" or lower quality gas. gas is gas.
I shop at BJ's. the membership card is free I think for a regular member and the people aren't dicks... But otherwise it's Costco with a different name.
