You have to go with what your comfortable with. I only started playing in March and have only played a few times in the last month and a half. I've played in two tournaments and found out that I don't do well staying at the back, I have to move. I just yesterday played the snake for the first time and well it might be what I will be doing in the future. I am not a back player.

I agree with what almost everyone in here as said so far. I started off in the woods years ago. And thats where my love of the sport is. I've tried speedball a few times and though I have enjoyed it. The woods keep calling me back. I love "hunting/stalking" someone in the woods waiting for that right moment to take the shot so to say.

So give everything a try. Even if it takes you a few months to figure out which style of play you like, or if you end up liking them all. Just go out and have some fun man. But be safe while you're at it.

Nothing is gonna ruin things more for you than piling up with 8 other people in the back center bunker, and not moving. it's paintball. you are going to get shot. it may hurt. sometimes it really hurts. I've been playing for almost 20 years, and i took the most painful shot of my life about 3 weeks ago:

Make sure you go with friends or atleast one other person that you know, expecialy if your new. Makes it more fun and if you are shy (not saying you are), it makes it alot funnier.

OMG Team_ILLNatured that looks ugly. i got shot behind the ear twice at about 20yards last week it hurt like hell but only after i went home haha. Gotta love Paintball.

I tried to run through on 2 guys, but there were 3 left, and I didnt know it. I brushed up against the dude's bunker, and ran right through his stream of paint, with my melon about 3in away from his barrel tip.

really its all about what you want to play. I prefer tourney paintball so i play at a local speedball field. if you look woods ball and scenario more then you would want to go to a field that is more woodsball friendly. it depends on what you like the most don't let anyone tell you what you should play. try both and see which one you enjoy the most.

recball is not exclusive to the woods....your local field has recball on their air field every week. "rec" stands for "recreational" not "woods"


anyways, many people have already said it. If you like stealth and tactics, start in the woods; if you like adrenaline and and speed, the airball field is where you should go. if you dont know, try them both.

my 2 cents, dont get a gun and trick out your setup and think "hey im gonna play this style forever." play rec-ball then speedball and see what you like best.
