It looks to be a .68 classic with someone going a little too crazy with a lathe.

cool thanks ill try to get some clearer pics. i just thought the splash job was interesting and ive always wanted to restore a mag. Yeah the machining work on both the reggs looks like it could have been done with a chizzle and file.

The splash rail is from Planet judging by the pattern.

Did they drill holes in the back of the reg to lighten it?

That hole, is more than likely a reverse inlet for left handed players. Tom made quite a few.

The inlet holes are much farther forward as seen on my classic automag here.

I was thinking there may have been a Smart Parts Magic Box on there at one point, but the magic box usually required a hole further forward into the air chamber. Looking at the blow up of your picture I'm not seeing any threading on that hole for screwing in an elbow etc, and you can see the threads of the back cap so it doesn't seem to make it into the air path in any meaningful way, so other than removing material it doesn't look it served any functional purpose.

Example of Magic Box. (Not my pic):

Actually it's a smart parts, eclipse had extra milling on the side and a bubble jewel in the middle of it -

yeah the holes on the valve/reg are not threaded and there is one on each side. the air line goes in in front of where the wholes are drilled. thanks for the info on the grip. i know the lower frame is from someplace called Olympic Paintball which i havent been able to find any info on. at this point it looks like all I may be using from these parts is the splash parts. The reg and valve are both badly rusted internally and i cant get them apart. the bolt is in fine condition but i cant get the air chamber (?) behind the bolt loose. I have an Etha and was supprised at how similar the internals look to this Mag so i've been using it as something of a reference (obviously the air chamber on this does not use an inline pull poppet. i am going to take some more pictures when i get home of the internals so i can ask some more questions. Also is there anywhere to get parts beside AGD?

Also because this is my first Mag and i admittedly have no idea what they are all about. how do i get a barrel on this thing. there is no threaded insert or anything in the front of it to mount a barrel to?

The back half of the valve is the regulator.

It cannot have holes in it like that and work.

You are probably better off buying a used valve than trying to get parts to get that one working.

Automags.org is a good place to start.

And don't believe the hype that you NEED and x valve, I have had plenty of classic valves that work just fine.

Dont believe I've ever heard that "hype" .

I do however like to use the best, and that would be an Xvalve.

The Automag in its Classic, Mini-, and RT forms used a Twistlock barrel instead of threads like any other marker. Look in the front of the body and you will see a spring-loaded pin (barrel/Twistlock detent). This engaged in a channel on the outside of the breech end of the barrel. Twisting the barrel 90* and pulling it out is all that is necessary to remove it.

I bought a Doc's Machine Automag Twistlock to Autococker barrel thread Adapter off of eBay for a hair less than $40 so I can use the copious amounts of Cocker barrels and barrel kits I have and not have to worry about a proprietary attachment method.
