Speaking as a snake player, I LOVE the new elbow bunker. It may eliminate the worry of getting shot through the cracks in the snake.

The most critical issue is the height of the new snake vs the old cakes/knuckles. I agree that the beam height looks taller than the old beams, which would decrease the vertical relief between the beam and the knuckle, decreasing the amount of protection a player has when shooting cross-field. Forcing the snake player to come over the top of the bunker to shoot cross-field seems like a step backwards, so I doubt Damian would do that.

I think I would like these more if they were accompanied by a knuckle. That way, the cracks are gone, but the ability to pop up cross field is still available without completely exposing yourself.

This is the truth ...... The beams are taller then the current beams and start wide at the bottom and round over at the top. If you cant play the L with it being just as tall as the bricks well I dont know then.

The problem with some paintball players these days are they complain about stuff WAY to much. Adapt and play it simple as that...... And if you dont play psp it doesnt matter so why ***** about it.

The Giant Beams, much wider and taller than their Hyperball predecessors, have been keeping front players safe from cross field lanes. Large knuckles, such as Cakes, Baby Bricks even Temples, protecting them from getting shot by their mirrors.
This Era has ended. The Snake will be technical again.

The 2012 season brings the Snake back to life with the addition of 2 new bunkers:
A shorter and more narrow version of the Giant Beam, the "Snake Beam" and a L shaped bunker, the "Elbow", will be the new components of the spectator side of the field.
Though there is still plenty of space to hide behind, tighter play and better timing will be required."

Elbow bunker:

Snake Beam bunker:

"On the PSP or the Millennium field, those 2012 bunkers not only bring a renewed interest on playing the Snake but also bring 2 extra bunkers to the set. The 6 Giant Beams from the previous seasons are replaced by 4 Snake Beams and 4 Elbows, which will increase the options for field layouts' designs.

The combination of Snake Beams and Elbows also frees up bunkers normally used as knuckles. Those extra bunkers will allow for shorter moves elsewhere on the field and a wider range of play options."

"snake players protected by large knuckles"
maybe in EuroLand, but most of the XBall layouts I played but a Tiny Cake for each knuckle and call it a day.
they should have brought back the Tombstone, that **** was fun to play

Have these Guys EVER played the Snake??? So now all I can do is go up or down?

I don't think that it makes it more technical as much as just less versatile...

Didn't they just Hike the prices as well??? GAME OVER MAN…game over …

Is it just me or does the Snake Beam look taller than the 2011 snake beams?

I'll need to see a layout before I make judgements, the field designer might find ways to create blind spots allowing snake players to come over the top without being exposed to everyone on the field

Paintball News Rules
  1. No Upping threads. If you have something to say, please do, but don't post in the thread just to take it to the top of the forum.
  2. Do not post "1st post", "1st", "First post" or anything similar (or with any other number) at any point in a thread, even if you post a comment too. It is really annoying and it will result in a ban.
  3. If you don't like something, say why instead of just calling it ugly, lame, gay or any other name. If it is old, simply post a link or report the post with a link to the older News thread.
  4. Please don't post links for places to buy items. That encourages stores, sponsored players and other people to do it and spam the site.
