Innovative Quest Ideas- bring em here lets brainstorm

DISCLAIMER- I am in no way responsible for damage you do to your own marker in attempting to do any of these mods. Have fun. Be safe.

So anyway I wanted to start a thread to discuss innovative ideas for our quests, whether they be completely new ideas or just using existing parts from other manufacturers to mod the quest. What does the quest need to make it "better" and how can it be accomplished. Better is very subjective but I'm interested in everyone's opinions and ideas.

heres one:

Ive heard the question asked a few times and even asked it myself: What are my feedneck options? If I use a rotor it leaves a gap.
The critical feedneck is getting harder and harder to find and re-threading other feednecks to fit is not really cost effective. Well today while watching a milling video of someone milling down a cocker pressed in feedneck to fit a new ego clamp feedneck I wondered if this would work on the quest. I'm not the first to think of the idea as my search turned this up. This hasn't been brought up recently so I figured I'd repost the idea. I haven't ironed all the details but the ego feedneck is 7/8ths I.D. and you need 14/32nds left exposed to bolt the ego feedneck up to.

pretty "basic"(lol if you have a lathe and skills) way of doing this is to turn a piece of aluminium down. first section with a length of .150 O.D .900, then step down the OD to .875(7/8) and cut to a length of .438(14/32)(length of stepped down section). The ID for the new feedneck insert needs to be .735. The insert will then need to be bonded in to the existing feedneck spot and the ego feedneck bolted on. Boom- ego feedneck on your quest! If you ever need to remove it you can just heat the adhesive up to the point of failure and break it loose, it's really not hard to do

Another idea being tossed around is relocating the lpr from in front of the hpr to behind it.
Bring some drawings here! lets work out the details and get a working model!
I mayyyyy be able to help with some of the machine work if I like the design.

One idea I had is weight reduction. The quest is pretty hefty when it comes to weight, but it is an older platform. On my old quests, i found key spots where metal could be removed that I deemed was unnecessary. THis mainly included the frame...the entire right side of the grip is solid aluminum. its easy to drill sections of it away to remove a bit of weight. I would cut a hole inside of the board attachment screws, so that if the right grip pannel was removed, you could see the back side of the board. Actually, as long as the board is properly mounted and the battery is remotely secured, that entire wall can be removed. The best part is that the grips cover this section, so great craftsmanship isnt required.

yea for sure fetus, that is a good idea. The fact that the stock grips cover the area as well makes it nice. I'm sure with a little effort it could be made to look good even with clear spd grips.

idea

Could you make an insert for the stock feedneck? I would like to shoot my spire. I have a gap that lets dirt and screws with my ball stack. I would be happy to provide measurements.

Not a bad idea. You mean a spacer that would sit below the loader feed. like an extension basically to fill the air gap, rotors also have that gap when you use the stock feed neck.

Delrin would prob work well.
Yea for sure get those measurements!

as a matter of fact yes I have

It seemed to make no positive impact from my personal experience. I lost about 5 fps with the modded noid installed everything else the same.

Has anyone else done the noid vent mod to validate the loss in velocity? That's very surprising, seeing as the Shocker/Luxe guys see 25 fps improvements.

I'm having trouble determining the variance in results between them and the Quest. Maybe the SMC solenoids are already venting at 100% efficiency?

I would say that reason for the lack of gains is that the smc noids are already venting properly indeed but I encourage others to try for themselves if they are up to it.

planing to do a pressure tester for the quest, like a bob long marq to eliminate the side tester,

I think Ill try the cuts in the noid, on my species I felt it helped to cycle faster

The shocker LP system is TERRIBLE. Like, GOD awful. ANYTHING is better than that...that's why the mods to that part (noid vent, IPR) are effective.

necrotiem

has anyone considered making a different VA/LPR mount altogether?
Would be sweet to see a more ergonomic one that sticks out a wee bit more and that can still seamlessly integrate the stock LPR or allow it to rock an SCM or JDS from another gun on there somehow.

OR OR OR OR OR

on the larger quests, any way to do some hidden milling and relocate the LPR to the body altogether?

Would be cool to adjust it victory style (but instead of turning a ****ing wheel, adjust it normally.

I have an innovative quest idea, but don't want to share unless Lurker is cool with it. Would be a fairly difficult mod, but think it'd work well.
