I think thats a good idea. The only other thing I would add to that would be brief compensation for a paycheck after being laid off by a company. This would add job security and increase the number of people who would be willing to take risks in order to make more money (and contribute more to our country's GDP). However, the government should compensate for only a short period of time and for only a fraction of the money which was being earned, as it would be unviable to do it any other way.
its called workers compensation and its a mess if you ask me. Your lack of knowledge clearly reflects your age, work experience, and real world knowledge outside your parents roof.
I received a Social Security check for 11 years from when my father passed on. If it wasn't for that my life would have been a hell of a lot more difficult, especially college.
Whether it's right or not for me to receive other's money is for you to judge, but I am truly thankful.
If your life had been more difficult do you think you would have been able to rise to the occasion and do what it took to make it through?
EDIT: I still have both my parents and I'm working full time to put myself through college right now...
If your life had been more difficult do you think you would have been able to rise to the occasion and do what it took to make it through?
No.
Honestly though, being able to live as I have, has allowed me to become the successful individual I am. Yes, I would have made it out, but it wouldn't have been easy.
Now that I actually think about it though, my father had already payed into Social Security fund for a significant amount of years and that's how benefits are paid out, so this isn't really related.

All spoken like true liberals in my eyes. Big business is what drives our country forward in today's global markets. There is no evil conspiracy of big business towards individuals; its called economics. Its whats being driven out of this country and into other more business friendly markets. I agree without restrictions a business has, will, and screw individuals;ex: enron.
Exxon, MCI Worldcom, The Current rash of Banks that cashed in on Predatory loans...

I'm not a liberal but whenever I ask my mom or sister why they are they always avoid answering the question by asking me why I always want to start an arguement.

I know man. Liberals are so shady and dodgy about their ideology. Just like Hillary who didn't want to admit she was liberal! Those suckers.
some of us do vote democrat because its really hard to support the pro-business agenda of the Right, while we look around and watch the Average American get ****ed in the *** by the special interests.
but wasn't America made to be a very successful capitalist country?
I see democrats trying to take this away from us

Conservatives strike me as far too closed minded and want the status quo to be preserved with what they are comfortable with. Society evolves, and inhibiting the natural progression because they want to impose their morals on other people is silly.
I don't see much of a reason to be economically liberal, however.
I agree with the first part of your statement whole-heartedly.
Not so much on the second statement, but I can see where your coming from.
What about the millions of other companies who don't break the law and provide jobs and capital to this country?
liberals don't think of the family owned businesses that are in EVERY town in America

But I can say the exact same thing towards liberals, pushing their socialist ideals on me in every aspect of my life. Just because most liberal morals do not involve God makes them ok and open-minded? (I am not directing this only at you, more in general...)
Liberals are WAY to much like socialist to me
Large Government scares me and so does government controlled health care.
When I asked my brother and dad, who are both doctors, on their opinions on Hillary's health care plan they responded with, "Do you want health care to be like section 8 housing?"...damn so true

I am quite conservative, but I am somewhat curious as to why people support politicians with liberal policies.
I am curious primarily because these politicians for the most part would advocate an increase in taxes (as the democrat-controlled congress just did by passing of the FY 09 Budget Resolution in Congress) to fuel a 'big government' and all that comes with it (entitlement programs, increased government spending overall, ect.). To me that just doesn't seem like what the majority of Americans want. (and it arguably instigates a return to socialist ideology ... but thats for another thread I suppose ...)
The main reason I can think of for liberal candidates to succeed in the political arena is the fact that liberal candidates associated with the DNC often cling to special interests such as: global warming (caused by humans); environmentalism; feminism (maybe not so much anymore, but I believe it is still present through abortion and other issues); affirmative action; multiculturalism; and a whole host of other issues.
Is it the special interest issues which bring you to vote for a democrat or am I wrong in assuming that the majority of Americans want a 'big government' economic policy. Please try to keep this under control, as I would like to hear from someone with their reason for supporting a democratic politician so I could better understand their point of view.
Thanks.
Do conservatives have blinders on? Just how has 8 years of Bush made our government "smaller" and less-intrusive into it's citizen's lives?
Federal spending has increased by 23.7 percent since Bush took office. Education has been further federalized in the No Child Left Behind Act. Bush pulled out all the stops to get Republicans in Congress to create the biggest new entitlement program, prescription drug coverage under Medicare, in 40 years. These are just a few examples.
Most Americans don't like Big Government, I'll give you that. But no politician on either side is listening to our concerns, are they? We have big-government liberalism and big-government conservatism. These are our only options these days. Don't fall for the lip service.
But I can say the exact same thing towards liberals, pushing their socialist ideals on me in every aspect of my life. Just because most liberal morals do not involve God makes them ok and open-minded? (I am not directing this only at you, more in general...)
Not what I meant. Unless I am naive or ill-informed, I've never known someone to say "you HAVE to get gay married, an abortion, etc. because I say its the RIGHT thing to do." Liberalism (in the instances I support it) is about recognizing that people will have a different view on what is acceptable on social issues, and allowing them to practice that.
I myself am a conservative in practice. I'm never going to want to marry a man, don't expect to ever have a woman I ****ed get an abortion, think political correctness is stupid, and a few other things. I, however, recognize that it's not my place to dictate what other people should find offensive/do based on what I think.

I actually think of the family owned businesses. My dad owned a local, family owned business. It is how he provided for my family all of my life up until recently (retired). My family happens to be a liberal one, I might add. What bugs me, is the BIG businesses...not small, family owned ones. Big businesses often (not always) hurt people and are solely concerned about profits. If it does harm in the process, oh well. THAT is the attitude that I hate. Big business more specifically harms these family owned businesses in a lot of cases. For instance, big business almost put my father's store out of business. I perhaps that is okay though, right? I'll reiterate: It's the greed and corruptness of big business that I despise.

Actually, yeah because liberals tend to base things like morals and beliefs off of broader aspects. Whereas conservatives see one thing: God. And if it doesn't fall in line with that, then the other side is wrong.

Large government? Actually the Bush administration and most current neo-conservatives have enlarged our government by A LOT. Do you support Bush and the current ways of the Republican party? Because that would make you very hypocritical.

You mean other than the fact that he is NOT a conservative?
He called it "Compassionate conservatism" which is just another way to say "Donkey in an Elephant suite writing the budget".
I'm libritarian(not to be confused with liberal) Right now I see little diffrence between conservitisim(sp?} and libralisim(sp?) Same thing with a slightly diffrent flavor.
I suported ron paul because (IMO) he represented true conservitisim

Stop assuming conservatives enjoy the current state of the republican party. FYI, neither Obama nor Clinton would fix that.

Gotcha, and as long as no one asked me to pay for it, I'm usually ok with it.

Liberals believe Al Gore invented the internet, they think Michael Moore's films are true, they are ok with killing unborn babies but are against killing convicted murderers, and they think you can take a diplomatic approach with terrorists.
Oh and they think Obama isn't a bigot
LET THE FLAMING BEGIN
